Salaries dont match -
but Jackson & Claxton would work for Z

That seems like an offer that Golden State would consider!

As much love as I have for Z, Jackson would be a monster. Perfect compliment to our team.

With Shaq, Z is now the only decent chance the Cavs have to get better since there will never be any cap room. Do you really want to stake the future of the Cavs and keeping LeBron on Jackson ??? I think I would rather wait and see what else may be available down the road.

I doubt there are many teams jumping at the opportunity to trade for an way overpaid player like Jax in this economy. Cavs should be patient.

I think sometimes stats from a run and gun offense like Golden State's obscure other issues like Jacksons risky personality both on and off the court (associated salary cap problems too).

'Z' is a useful role player at center and insurance for Shaq with a Huge expiring. The CAVs are already manned very well at the shooting guard position with Delonte West and Anthony Parker which doesn't make them to be in panic mode to take on Jackson's risky personality and ugly contract. I am not ruling out Jackson totally...but the CAVs shouldn't be the one's adding sweetener here. IMO, Jackson will be in Golden State until the trade deadline or sooner if he causes too many problems or pulls a VC out of Toronto scenario. Just don't forget that Jackson has turned on Golden State not to much after receiving an ill-advised contract extension from Golden State for a player on the wrong side of 30.

lol people are always so loose w/ "we could throw them a pick". you realize our first round picks are pretty useless when we're so good? they're not a huge sweetener in any deal.

We'd be paper thin in the frontcourt if we traded Z, Andy would have to play major minutes at PF/C.

Mo
Jack
LBJ
Varejao
Shaq

West/Powe/JJ/Moon/Parker/Green/Boobie off the bench

That would be a nice lineup though...we'd have to find another center somehow

I'm not worried about the frontcourt without Z. Shaq and Varajao can cover all minutes at C and a couple at PF. I think Hickson will contribute this year, he can get at least 10 mpg. When Powe comes back he can get 20. Plus we have Moon who can play more than 20. So without even moving Lebron to PF, we can cover all the minutes at PF and C. Not to mention, Lebron can play PF 40 mpg if he needed too.

Mo/West
Jackson/West
Lebron/Jackson

Thats easily the best perimiter in the NBA, especially when you throw Gibson, Parker, and Moon in.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Boobie Gibson ,2nd rd pick, Cash

for

Stephen Jackson, Speedy Claxton, Devean George

(Possibly 1st but they have to agree to buy out Z, cash is for half the buy out)

Mo/ West/ Claxton
Jackson/ Parker/ Green
James/ Jackson/ Parker
AV/ Moon/ JJ Hickson/ Powe/ Darnell
Shaq/ Z

Wow...Can you say killer team but this wont happen because for some reason GS is obsessed with Delonte and every trade includes him and the moment Ferry says he is off the table, the talks stop. But we can always dream.

We would have almost no big men depth and if we got an injury our team would be screwed. No thanks. We are good enough to win a championship with our current roster.

Found a couple of news links about Jackson that explains that the Warriors are NOT necessarily looking for expiring for Jackson which make taking on his risky personality and unattractive long-term contract more of a long shot.

And, well, who really wants Stephen Jackson?

ESPN's John Hollinger's not a big fan. Jackson only played 59 games last year. He's been a 20/5/5 player for Golden State, but it's unclear how much of those stats are him and how much is a product of Nellieball.

A 31-year-old point forward who can play some defense and serve as a third or fourth scorer would seem superfluous for the contending teams (read: not the Knicks) mentioned, especially because, in Jamario Moon, Shawn Marion, Richard Jefferson, and Trevor Ariza, each one brought in a capable swingman this summer.

Further, the Warriors would probably be looking for equal value in young players to add to their nucleus, not cap relief, and it would be hard to find such players on the rosters of the teams Jackson mentioned.

Jackson may want off the Warriors' galleon, but don't expect to see him sailing off any time soon.

http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/the_sp ... .%27/31988

Jackson just turned 31 this past April and averaged 20.7 points on 41.4 shooting from the field and 33.8 percent from 3-point range. Keep in mind that those numbers may be a bit inflated compared to what Jackson can really offer because he played on an up-tempo team in Golden State who played small ball a lot and jacked up as many jumpers as possible.

A true indicator of what Jackson can offer a halfcourt team like the Cavs can come from his 2005-06 season with Indiana, his last full campaign with the Pacers. In that, he played 81 games, averaged 16.4 points, and shot 41.1 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from downtown. He also averaged 1.3 steals, 2.8 assists, and a staggering 2.5 turnovers per game. That turnover number inflated to 3.9 this past season in Golden State.

But the biggest indicator of why the idea of Jackson in a Cavs uniform is nothing more than a pipedream is his contract. Jackson is locked in through the 2012-13 season for an average of about $9 million per season. He will make about $10 million during the last year of that contract.

Jackson would make perfect sense for the Cavaliers if Danny Ferry hadn't just signed Anthony Parker and Jamario Moon to bargain deals. Parker seems to be a more efficient scorer, and Moon seems to be just as athletic and offers the same length on the perimeter. Both are signed to partially guaranteed contracts through 2011, two years before Jackson's mammoth contract would be up.

So if Jackson was actually paying attention to what the team in his preferred destination had done, he would have come out with this two months ago. Instead, adding Jackson at this point become redundant and cripples the team payroll further.

Well Jackson and LeBron would team up to be our SF/PF during the key moments of the game. Jackson could guard the swing PF's like Rashard Lewis and Lamar Odom as well. He is a very good defensive player.

Jax would have to come off the bench. He can't play SG. The problem with Jackson is that we signed Jamario Moon to fill the role that Jackson would be coming in for.

^Yeah it's too late. We signed 2 guys who can fill his role in Moon and Parker. They obviously aren't as good but we would have to disrupt the roster to bring him in at this point by moving Z or some other rotation guys. It's not worth the hassle.

And I like Jackson...but just being realistic.

I will go for this trade if we add another center in case Shaq goes down, because he will miss couple
games for sure and someone who can reduce Shaq minutes and save him for the playoff.
If not then that'won't make sense since we have what it takes for that position
