Please Help. WR issues.

Post#1 » by Sinistar6 » Sat Aug 29, 2009 4:27 pm

Hi All,

I am scared about my wide receivers on my fantasy team. Here is my team (standard league)

QB-Matt Schwab
RB-Frank Gore
RB-Martion Barber
WR-Andre Johnson
WR-Brandon Marshall
TE-Vernon Davis
Flex-D. McFadden
Def-NYJ
K-Houston Guy
BN-Larry Johnson
BN-Reggie Bush
BN-Devin Hester
BN-Ray Rice
BN-Carson Palmer
BN-T Guinn Jr

I tried to take the best player available and as you can see I am a little short on Wideouts. I would not be this worried if the Brandon Marshall situation didn't scare me. Also T Guinn has been pathetic, and I had hopes he would have a breakout year (I could have had Donnie Avery instead).

All is not lost however, if Johnson/Bush/Rice have good season I have some crazy trading chips.

There are 2 free agents that interest me, however I would have to drop Guinn to get them (who the hell else could i drop) those recievers are D. Mason and C. Henry.

I am really high on Henry, I love his talent and Carson Palmer calls him mini-Moss. Mason is a proven commodity that produces.

What would you guys do?

C Henry is a late round sleeper this year. I think he will put up nice numbers if Palmer is healthy.

But really, why did you draft Marshall? Even without the suspension it was clear that he is not motivated at all and with Orton at Qb his fantasy stock is really hurt. If he will play at all i think he'll pull a Randy Moss and finish with well under 1000 yards and < 5 Tds.

ya your wr's (after andre) aren't good. with marshall's questions, ginn and hester being not the most reliable- there is plenty of questions there

i'm not really a fan of bush (unless it's a PPR league) and i'm not the highest on mcfadden either. gore and barber should produce some good numbers, and ray rice could make some strides this year.

and vernon davis hasn't exactly torn the place up either

So would you drop Guinn for Henry or Mason. Or should i roll with what I have?

As for the other comments on the team. I love McFadden this year, he is probably one of my favorite players and i fore see 1200 yards rushing and 500 receiving. Bush was a 7th round pick for me and couldn't pass up that value. Davis is going to have a come back year and seems to be a recieving threat in pre-season. I am very happy with all positions besides wideout and defense. I like Marshall's ability (and see him in other years as a legit number 1) however I really didn't think that his crybaby attitude would cost him regular season games...

Try your hardest to trade Marshall now!

Go for DeSean Jackson. The guy that drafted him might feel like Marshall is too much value to pass up on and accept the offer.
I am kicking myself for taking Braylon Edwards over Jackson in 2 or 3 leagues.
Jackson is going 6xth and 7th round if not later in most drafts and just watch, he will be middle of tier WR1 material top of WR2 tier by the end of the season.
He just looks so good in preseason. He has blazing breakaway, big play speed, his hands are great and he is running routes so damn crisp and has shown he can take big hits. He has the attitude to get it done and the quarterback to get him the ball, along with the coach that loves to throw. He gets reverses called for him and returns some kicks. When they implement the Wildcat, he will for sure be involved in it as well.
I can't stress how much I feel like he is going to have a Steve Smith like season, with major yardage, a lot of catches and medium touch downs and a lot of huge games.

I got stuck with Marshall as well, PLUS Royal. On top of that, I got Orton as my backup QB to Romo. Nice huh?

I picked up Chris Henry and Sidney Rice(possible sleeper?) and have Torry Holt as well. I'm going to try and trade Marshall obviously, but I have a feeling he'll be traded so I'm actually not too worried about it. If Henry produces, Royal/Henry/Holt isn't THAT horrible, and if Marshall goes to another team or sucks it up and plays, well...whatever. I guess. Meh. I dropped Nate Washington for Henry, hopefully that doesn't turn out to be a bad decision, but I don't care.

So as of now my team looks like:

Tony Romo
Kyle Orton

Eddie Royal
Brandon Marshall
Torry Holt
Chris Henry
Sidney Rice

Dallas Clark
Jeremy Shockey

Frank Gore
Chris Johnson
Ahmad Bradshaw
Beanie Wells

Mason Crosby

Giants Defense

I want to get Andre Johnson or Kevin Walter since I'm a Texans fan, but we shall see. The guy who has Andre has Fitzgerald as well, lucky whore.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

I love DeSean also, however so does the team that got him. I just have to hope Marshall gets going come regular season. I'm still counting on 1100 yards and 8 scores...

Marshall is an undeniable talent, but is he going to play much?
What team will still pony up full value for him after his recent antics and if he stays on the Broncos will they wind up suspending him for numerous games ala T.O. in his 2nd season in Philly?
Who wants him?
Maybe Dallas takes a shot? Jerry Jones is always a risk taker. That's a good situation.
But who else? Al Davis? Oakland is a horrible situation for him fantasy wise.
Who else?
Dare I say Chicago?!
The Jets or even Giants? I don't see either of them bringing in a low character guy.
Will Washington be a risk taker to try and climb atop the brutal NFC East?
Philly has been this route already and I say no dice. If by some chance they go for the big trade, it's going to be Boldin or Edwards. They are not taking on another high priced headcase.
I guess I could possibly see Minny swooping in, but I doubt it. You never know though, exchange Percy Harvin for Brandon Marshall?
Any other team I haven't mentioned is an instant no IMHO.

Try getting Roddy White or Dwayne Bowe for him? Probably asking too much.
OchoCinco would be a great swap for you.
How bout Anthony Gonzalez?
Santonio Holmes always seems to disappoint regular season and Pittsburgh doesn't throw the ball enough, but he almost has to have a big breakout season one of these days.
How bout Santana Moss?
You could always take the plunge and dangle him for T.O., but that maybe riskier then keeping him.
I'd definitely try for Braylon Edwards, he'll be nice this year.
Vincent Jackson?
I just threw out a bunch of fringe possibilities, go for one of them.

Isn't Marshall suspended the first two games by the commish already?
I stayed away from Marshall like crack cocaine in all my leagues...

Well after the first 2 weeks I'm in first place.

I scored 60 points in week one and somehow got the win. I scored 155 in week 2 as Schwab and Johnson blew up, along with Gore and Barber, seriously I may have had the best FF week in history of yahoo. I have done all this starting Freekin Marshall and Vernon Davis.

Looks like Ted Guinn gets the start next week after being targeted 16 times on MNF. Also might have to drop the Davis, Shockey and Keller are still free agents.

The team I drafted was the best team in fantasy history.

Schwab-top QB
Johnson-Top wideout
Marshall-Top 5 WR
Gore-Top 5 back
Rice-top 5 back
Davis-top TE
NYJ- top DEF
Flex-Barber (bad season)

hope my draft goes like this in 2010.

My fantasy sleepers this year-

QB targets-Cutler, if no Cutler Flacco

WR- Donnie Avery breakout candidate. Target Megetron in round 2 if top RB not available, (No DeAngelo or Beanie) also like Carolina S.Smith/ and Boldin as WR2s. As many I think Hak Nicks will be most productive Giant and would rather have Percy Harvin in 5th/6th than Syd Rice in 2nd/3rd

RB- LeShawn and Moreno great value in 4th/5th round. Best is my Ray Rice of this year.

TE- Carlson and Zach Miller

DEF-DA BEARS!
