Re: Bring Back jax
Hell no... first of all, Jefferson makes 15 million while Jax makes 7.5 million.
You add Jefferson, Finley, RMJ, and Bonner together and that equals up to somewhere around 23 million.
Plus, how would it look if the Spurs trade Jefferson now for Jax? Not good. The season haven't even started.
And last, personally I'll take Jefferson over Jax right now. If we're going to trade for a 31 year old Jax, I'd rather we go after 32 year old Vince Carter.

Re: Bring Back jax
I always liked Jackson's toughness and attitude but like Rasho said his contract is just not very manageable. Plus where does he fit into this roster. We have Jefferson, Manu plus an aging Fin and upcoming Hairston. Maybe get a third team involved but we would have to move Jefferson. I personnally think RJ is going to fit in great with our system and organization.
Overall I don't see any way we get Jackson. Houston on the other hand could use him.

Re: Bring Back jax
Do we have 8 mil worth of expirings? And I really don't think GS is interested in late first round picks. They can get a much better deal for that IMO.

Really what's the better deal? The only better deal I see would be if Denver offered their trade exception. But the Warriors ownership and FO is nuts... so who knows.
Marcus E. Williams, Michael Finley, Matt Bonner, & Future First for Stephen Jackson.
That trade works under the cap.

Re: Bring Back jax
I like the package pickIBL put together but that would be committing an awful lot of money for the future. Especially if we lock up Manu for 4 or 5 years. That would be some amazing depth at the 2/3 with RJ, Manu, Jax, and Mason. Plus add the depth we have at the 4/5 with Duncan, Dice, Blair, and the rest of the guys. Throw in Tony and Hill holding down the point and you have the deepest team in the league.
Honestly I think Dallas has a better shot at landing Jackson as Dampiers expiring contract is mightly tempting. Plus Cuban is the type of owner that isn't afraid to take on big contracts. If we don't get him would much rather see him land in Houston than Dallas.

Re: Bring Back jax
jackson has the better 3 point shot, but Maggette's value is at an all time low. Despite this I think he'd make a better Spur than Jackson starting at the 2. There has been talk the warriors might move Brandan Wright.
To do it you'd have to move Mahinmi, Finley, Bonner, and Mason. You'd get back Maggette and Wright. I think Nelson would keep Mahinmi, Bonner, and Mason... but they'd buyout Finley and you could get him back.
His last year in LA... Maggette shot over 38% from behind the 3 point line. The starting 2 spot for the spurs would be an ideal fit for him. Plus the Warriors are stupid for wanting to move Wright... so you could take advantage of that too for life after Duncan as a super star.
The warriors want to move Maggette's contract... they'd toss in Wright and let you keep your draft picks to do it (well that's my opinion at least). You can't really judge the insane.

Re: Bring Back jax
well we can't be making trade scenarios on the base that the Warriors FO is dumb. Or else let's just throw out the idea that GS needs a PG and they'll trade Anthony Randolph for George Hill. Boom!!!
So here's a few things that you should think about in this Sjax situation.
1. Like I said, expirings and Late 1st round pick? I don't even know what other team are there that can offer 8 mil expirings but let's use your example. Denver 1st round and trade exception.
Geez.. let's think about it, Bonner and Finley aren't keepers and they're not going to make the Warriors a playoff team either. Would you rather pay them and buy them out, or simply take no one in the form of trade exception?
And geez... put Sjax in both San Antonio and Denver, which 1st rounder would you want? I sure as hell still want Denver's.
2. What does getting Sjax means this summer? Quite possibly, losing Manu Ginobili. Anything less than a championship, Peter Holt won't fork up the cash to go even higher than this year's cap numbers and you basically trade all of the expirings we have so no way we'll have a lower cap number.
3. You know that in crunch time and key moments, Jefferson, Parker, and Ginobili will all be on the floor. Where does that leave Sjax? I sure don't want a 31 year old backup making an average of 9 million for the next 4 years. Even if Jax turns out to be on the floor instead of Jefferson, then we'd have a 15 million player that's not on the floor in crunch time.
4. Think as GS Front Office. Trade Sjax to San Antonio and they'd be a laughing stock the way Memphis GM became when he traded Gasol to LA. As a Western Conference GM, you don't want to be the guy that help another Western Conference team win the title. That's why GMs always want to move guys to a different conference.
I mean, they probably would trade Jax to Cleveland knowing that it boost their championship contender status but atleast the Cavs is in a different conference.
Unless ofcourse if the GS FO is stupid. Then we wouldn't want Jax. We'd be offering George Hill for Anthony Randolph.

I really don't want to rehash all the stupid things going on with Rowell and Golden State, but there are already plenty of people laughing. And I'm being for real about Wright... they would move him.
As for your Nuggets proposal. Yes that is a better idea. The question to me isn't would Golden State take it (they would)... but would Denver do it? It doesn't appear all that likely. If the Nuggets did really want Jackson they could sweeten the pot with the Bobcats first rounder. Again doesn't seem likely. But depending on how things play out I suppose they could change their mind on that.
In Denver the talk is about signing Wally Szczerbiak. And I'm personally ratcheting up the chatter on a Kmart for Brand trade. Another reason the Nuggets wouldn't want to add another long term contract.
Personally if I was Denver I'd swap for Brand, sign Szczerbiak and Gerald Green and call it a summer. Save the luxury tax.

Re: Bring Back jax
Well.. Again, if the idea is that GS Front Office will do stupid trades, then it's hard to argue anything on this.
But as far as Denver's situation, I'm not a fan of theirs but here's what I can't understand unless Denver's FO is also stupid. There's a bunch of those FO around the league. .
Denver, who got to the WCF last year, and is badly in need of a SG/SF with the departure of Dahntay Jones and Kleiza, WILL NOT want Stephen Jackson basically for free while the Spurs do?

To replace Kleiza the talk is Wally Szczerbiak which sounds fine. Jones has already been replaced with Arron Afflalo. Most nugget fans are happy with that move and felt Jones was overpaid. Basically JR Smith is supposed to move into the starting lineup and we are hoping Afflalo can be a little like Raja Bell. We want him to play defense and and spread the floor and knock down threes. The latter is something Jones couldnt really do. Especially with the projected cap figure for next year... I doubt Denver pushes themselves that far into the luxury tax to go get Jackson. Especially if they'd already have JR Smith, Afflalo, Balkman, and Szczerbiak who can hold down the 2 spot.
I think Denver is thinking about smaller contracts with the TPE... like say Charlie Bell.

Re: Bring Back jax
I have no idea what the Nuggets are thinking about because I never been a fan of Denver and I really don't care about them at all.
But I do know this:
1. Denver's owner has shown a willingness to spend. That's proven when they take on Iverson and have a payroll up to 80 million until they get knocked off repeatedly in the 1st round and he says enough is enough. So I truly doubt that now after the Nuggets get as far as the WCF and feel they're good enough to be a title contender, they go about their business saying I'm not paying the tax no more.
2. I refuse to believe that the Nuggets FO is satisfied by replacing Jones (starting SG) and Kleiza (key backup forward) with a backup SG who hasn't shown much in the NBA outside of summer league games (Aaron Afflalo) and a guy who they had last year and didn't crack the team's main rotation (Balkman). I simply refuse to believe that they lose those 2 guys and even if they get Wally Z, they're gonna go and say "hey.. we've improved ourselves for this upcoming year."

Well first you must understand the Denver Dynamic now with the three headed monster of Kroenke, Warkentien, and Bearup. If you don't believe my analysis just look at the Kleiza situation. He didn't get nearly what people thought he was going to get going to Europe. Yet still the Nuggets let him go. Also the cap is supposed to go down big time next summer.
After the success the Nuggets had going the bargain route... I think you should expect them to do it again. The TPE is going to expire in November and they still haven't used it. There is no guarantee they use it... and if they do it doesn't mean they take back a big contract.
Look at what Denver has done. They've been high on Lawson for years so they trade into the draft for him. They let Jones go for AA. They let Kleiza walk. They bring back Andersen for 3.5 million next year. They bring back Petro cheap. They worked a deal for Malik Allen... again cheap.
With Kenyon and JR already in the locker room I'm not sure the Nuggets want to bring in another personality. I support signing Wally. I'd be ok adding Green. I like the idea of using the TPE(s) on smaller contracts like Charlie Bell... and or Jarvis Hayes.
Jarvis Hayes would make a good Nugget. Priority numero uno for me is to see the Nuggets take the risk and swap Kmart for Brand. We have a very skilled starting 2 guard and can sign a backup.
I dont even see Nugget fans advocating for a Jackson deal. I'm not dead set against it myself... just saying... I don't see it.
