D-Will vs. CP3 09-10

Post#1 » by QuantumMacgyver » Thu Aug 27, 2009 3:52 am

Every headline of every NBA website contains the name Sessions... officially there is NOTHING to talk about in NBA news but this seems to always be an entertaining argument...

Is this the year D-Will dethrones CP3 as the no. 1 PG in the game?

Some Utah Factors to Consider in D-Will's Improvement:
CJ's supposed improvement
Kosta's possible playing time
Boozer's contract year/possible absence
Millsap's production
Memo's slowly improving inside game
Korvers health
AK back to PF?
A healthy Deron

Some New Orleans Factors to Consider in CP3's Improvement:
How valuable was Chandler
What does Okafor bring to the Hornets
No more Rasual Butler
The James Posey experiment
Peja's declining production

I think Okafor and CP3 are going to play extremely well together. I think Dwill closes the gap but CP3 will still get the nod from the media.

Tell Deron to get 2.5 steals a night.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Dwill can't gamble like Paul, he doesn't have a Chandler or Okafor to erase his mistakes.

I'm just saying. There are reasons the media loves Paul. One of them is stats.

While we're telling him things, tell him to rebound, too.

Deron is a better defender than CP3, one of the reasons being that he doesn't gamble and try to rack up steals. I read an article on ESPN a while back that echoed the same sentiment.

Sadly, better defense is not a stat.

Maybe the Jazz can meet the Hornets in the playoffs. That is what I've been waiting for.

Different kind of players. Probably Paul has the more natural ability, but Williams' the tougher baller and the one I'd choose to build my team any day...

As long as Deron Willams can lead this team further into the playoffs than Chris Paul, he's going to be the better player.

I love Deron Williams -- he's a great player and should've been an All-Star twice already -- but if I had to do the draft over I'd pick Chris Paul in that spot.

Maybe this is the year he changes my mind.

I agree, DW is a great player, I just think CP3 is a better player and would draft him before DW. If DW does "pass" cp3 I certainly mind though.... :P

I think CP3 is a better player at this point, but that doesn't mean that I would take him there. The difference between the two is small enough that I wouldn't want to take the risk of Paul not fitting the system or having Jerry mess with his head and make him want out. I know that DWill is a great player, but that Paul is a little better. I take the bird in the hand rather than the one in the bush.

Still, I think Deron will go down as the better player when both of their careers have run their course, though Paul might have the higher peak.

I don't see a championship with either of them as the best players on their respective teams unfortunately.

PG's aren't ever the best players on their teams when they win rings. I know both Billups and Parker have won Finals MVP's, but neither were the best player.

Return to Utah Jazz
