Re: Training Camp
Notes from today:
First team d is in right now and Hawk and Poppinga are watching from the sidelines. Barnett and Matthews were in.
Jennings is feeling better. Will be limited this week but won't play. Should be ready for Bears.
Blackmon and Jackson injuries are worse than initially thought. Probably out this week.
Matthews and Barnett will play. Kapinos "has the ball right now...have no interest in going through what we did last year."
McCarthy: "I made an error. Matt Flynn should have been holding in that game."

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Brooks released, Kapinos lands punting job, no shock. Didn't know Kapinos led all punters with net average in preseason, that is at least a positive.

I don't remember the 40 time by Finley, but even if he only had good not great speed for a TE, he also seems to be very fluid in the hips to me. Some football players might run fast in a straight line, but they are kind of stiff. A good example of that for me is Bishop and Hawk. AJ ran better 40 times, but Bishop is more fluid in his movements and thus it allows him IMO to better get around blockers at times. Finley also looks very fluid in his movements and he should be able to use that with his speed to beat guys covering him and to adjust to balls in the air that aren't perfectly on target. Jennings is another guy that uses a great mix of running good routes, having good not special speed, and being very fluid getting in/out of his breaks to make him such a tough cover.

Matthews and Barnett will play.
this should make this weeks game a lot more interesting. i'm really excited to see what matthews brings to the table and how barnett looks after the injury and in the 3-4. they both have a chance to make the D even better causing turn overs they also could both play poorly. i have hope for both but more hope for matthews right now.

Re: Training Camp
I wonder how much Matthews will play, since it's the last preseason game. I'm really excited to see what he brings to our already impressive looking D.

Re: Training Camp
I think I officially need to get a Rodgers or Jennings jersey though. The only one I currently have is Hawk's...

I'm guessing Matthews will actually play a lot, possibly the whole first half'ish.
I think they view him as a player that has to contribute this season and thus they will try to get him up to speed by giving him some serious burn...
At least that is what I do, assuming he is at full health right now.

Re: Training Camp
Agreed, Matthews needs to play at least a half. Hopefully his leg holds up.

Re: Training Camp
I wish we could start Kampman/Chillar/Bishop/Matthews...
But I will settle for Kampaman/Chillar/Barnett/Matthews (Poppinga if he is hurt/not playing well)

Re: Training Camp
11:02 Greg_A_Bedard: Raji playing NT with the 2s
11:04 Greg_A_Bedard: Barnett and Chillar still in nickel.
11:11 Greg_A_Bedard: Players out: Peprah, Blackmon, Jackson, Rouse, Bishop, Lang, Jennings, Harrell. Lang only new injury. Rouse, bishop doing some jogthroughs
11:11 Greg_A_Bedard: Flynn not doing much at all.
11:43 Greg_A_Bedard: Individual.
11:45 Greg_A_Bedard: With his new mid-length dreads, @nickbarnett looks a little like the skinny kid who worked the courtyard in The Wire
12:01 Greg_A_Bedard: Got a ? about the HBs. . Jackson's injury really clouds it. Before it I thought Lumpkin and Sutton both got cut. Now I think TS sticks
12:03 Greg_A_Bedard: Eventually I think it's just Grant, Jackson and Wynn. Wynn does everything better than Sutton, including kick returns.
12:04 Greg_A_Bedard: It all goes back to what I said originally: he doesn't have enough speed to play at his size. Great at staying on his feet, but need more
12:05 Greg_A_Bedard: Red zone against scout tram
12:07 Greg_A_Bedard: And Rodgers is picked by Woodson on the first play. Woodson and harris the only starters. Smith pick on second play.
12:14 Greg_A_Bedard: Brohm looks pretty good today. Nice decisive quick slant to Heckendorf.
12:15 Greg_A_Bedard: Moll and Giacomini taking scout team reps at LG
12:18 Greg_A_Bedard: Too bad Evan Moore is so snakebit with injuries and lost snaps b/c of Havner. Good player. Could be on PS
12:18 Greg_A_Bedard: Rodgers picked again by Smith on tip.
12:23 Greg_A_Bedard: Against the Midwest Steelers too. RT @PriscoCBS: Watched the Bills-Steelers again. Wow, the Bills offense was awful.
12:25 Greg_A_Bedard: Merdith just left. He struggles in heat/sun. Didn't see the tradmarks left by Matthews on a previous sack, however.
12:30 Greg_A_Bedard: Meredith is back.
12:33 Greg_A_Bedard: Ones v ones two minute
12:33 Greg_A_Bedard: Matthews in. Great diving tip by Woodson vs driver. DPOY
12:34 Greg_A_Bedard: Rodgers drive ends after 6 yards. 1 of 4.
12:37 Greg_A_Bedard: Haven't seen Sutton get much run today. Might be a sign.
12:39 Greg_A_Bedard: Montgomery looks like he could play jai-alai with his club cast
12:41 Greg_A_Bedard: Brohm was 5 of 8 not including 2 spikes. 57 yards. Drive ended at 13 with throw out of end zone on final play of game. Half was w/3 line
12:51 Greg_A_Bedard: Crosby 8 of 8 deepest fro 50. All with Flynn holding
12:54 Greg_A_Bedard: 47 yards for Brohm. Mental calculator is on the fritz.
1:05 Greg_A_Bedard: Wells easily dispatched Raji in one on ones and then made a gesture like, 'rookie please.'
1:07 Greg_A_Bedard: Campen didn't like some of Barbre's tactics during a FG blocking drill. Told Talley to keep doing what he was doing. Campen was not happy
1:09 Greg_A_Bedard: Bigby is back in with ones after missing a lot of the 2 minute drill. They could be giving Smith a look.
1:16 Greg_A_Bedard: Colledge in obvious pain grabbing his left elbow. A ton of pain
1:17 Greg_A_Bedard: Seems to better now. May have knocked funny bone.
1:18 Greg_A_Bedard: Practice over

Re: Training Camp
I don't think there will be many surprises. We don't really have any big name/expensive guys that may get cut.
