Vick returns to the field tonight after about a 2 year lay off.

http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/eyes ... story.html

It'll be Vick's first official appearance in a game since Dec. 31, 2006, with the Atlanta Falcons. He also played that one at Lincoln Financial Field against the Eagles.

I'm really interested to see how he looks tonight.

Thursday night observations:
Rams OL and DL both look outstanding compared to recent years. Their OL gave great pass protection all night so far except once.
More Rams standouts:
Randy McMichael looks good
Baby Animal has a lot of Barrett Ruud in him, that's a good thing
Kyle Boller actually looked good
Can't remember who got the PRTD but it was a good one
Bengals:
They so desperately need a backup RB and a 3rd down back (both) Brian Leonard showing why the Rams gave up on him so quickly
Andre Caldwell dropped a perfect pass from O'Sullivan that would have been a TD
Pat Sims made a great 3rd down stop and held ground well from what I saw

Only saw brief snippets of Vick. I thought he looked, well, nothing special. Nice toss to Baskett, other than that it was nondescript.
What I did see in Philly was another terrible outing by their OL. Oh Jon Runyan where art thou?

Just tuned back in to the TB-MIA game. I still maintain that if I were an opposing coach facing Pennington I would just drop 9 guys into coverage, none more than 20 yards downfield, and make him beat me deep with only token pressure. Take away all the underneath and short crap and render him a liability.
MIA looks like they couldn't care less on defense and are still looking good. That run by Graham was nice though.

^^ The patriots started off so slow. Then they got their second wind and just turned it on like crazy from there. In season form right now. Moss and Brady are playing like 07.

Pats secondary scares me.

This game is entertaining as heck though, both teams will seem lethargic, then boom 50 + yd passes.

The Packers' offense has been amazing. Rodgers is 14-19 for 258 yards and 3 TD's in the first half with 0 INT's and a QB rating of 155.2.

Leading the Cardinals 38-10 at halftime. The 10 points were the first points the first team defense has given up in the preseason and they've forced three more turnovers.

The Broncos' rookie QB looked good in the few plays I caught of him.

Cutler looked good tonight.

What most impresses me about him, is his ability to roll out of the pocket and still throw accurate lasers as if he had been setting up in the pocket. Those passes that he makes while scrambling on the run most be like his signature bread n butter throws

Browns/Titans thoughts 2 days later:
CLE:
--James Davis again looked very good at RB. Dude runs with purpose and great vision and he is legit fast. Jamal Lewis also looked good, esp. on a downfield pass where he juked a defender onto his butt.
--Alex Mack had a real strong game and he needed it. Dominated the middle and other than one play he made the correct line calls
--Alex Hall made the INT/TD but he also made a couple other nice plays in coverage, and he showed he can close on the ball quickly in run or pass.
--Kam Wimbley can't even sack a QB when he gets flagged for a facemask.
--in general the defense has been far more innovative and aggressive at rushing the passer and having the DBs more active againt the run. Both of those are very welcome,
--Quinn looked real comfortable and in command. Threw a 26-yarder on a rope over the LB and outside the safety on which Massaquoi made a nice grab. The only place I see his arm strength being an issue is on deep posts where the safety is over the top.

TEN:
--Collins looked great, very sharp and in synch with Gage.
--The OL once again had major problems run blocking against a 3-4 front, just like the DAL game. Whenever they try to run outside there is always a LB or DB just waiting for them. The left side appears particularly problematic. Good thing nobody in their division plays a 3-4.
--Quinton Ganther made a real nice run after catch and probably kept his name off the waiver wire for another few days.
--liked what I saw of Donnie Nickey in coverage
--Demarcus Faggins had a rough night
--Vince Young is exactly the same player he was 3 years ago, absolutely zero progress. On some teams that would fall on the coaches, but in TEN that means it's all on him. If they had a better option at #2 it wouldn't surprise me if they would just cut him. They won't, not this year anyways, but he should be.

On VY I would say zero progress is overstating it just a bit.

He ran the 2 min drill efficiently making the right reads, not taking a sack and for the most part completed on 1st downs avoiding 2nd/3rd and long situations. However, he made the wrong decision before the half of forcing it instead of throwing the ball away and taking the 3 points but I doubt that he would risk that in a regular season game.

In the 2nd half he was with the 2nd string offense going up against the 1st string Cle defense I believe but that is no excuse for the Int throw. The int was a blatant mistake and inexcusable from a 4 year pro who has had as many starts as VY has had from that point I can see how one could say h has made zero progress. He did bounce back after that but VY just is too up and down. He looked great against TB and shown some good things in this game but against Dal and Buf he was terrible.

The Titans O-line is pretty avg as run blockers. Amano is probably the worst starting LG in the league and last season the Titans were stuffed in the back field more often then any other team if I remembr correctly. However, I'm not concerned about their run game in the preseason they have been historically vanilla and this pre season seems no diferent.

I agree that Collins and Gage looked good so did the both Cle QB's and Jared Cook who might be the steal of the draft.

The giants back-ups, plus kicker, played real friggen dirty tonight. Like the patriots screwed them over, and they had an axe to grind. They're backups, they should be worried about making the team, not playing dirty.

-Tynes threw our kick returner to the ground while out of bounds
-Their safety came outta no where and leveled a defenseless receiver
-They continued to pounce on bryan hoyer when he went into his slide
-The last one can't be considered that dirty, because the rookie who picked off the ball should have just went down, instead of running east/west. But the hit was pretty high, and it was more intent to injure rather than jar the ball loose.

Chase Daniels has a future in this league as a solid backup.

I put that on your kick returner. He's a freaking kicker.
