OT: Trip to the garden from PA

Post#1 » by Sloanfeld » Mon Aug 31, 2009 11:47 pm

Sup C's fans? I'm a Jazz fan in PA and considering going to Boston for our game on 11-11. It's a paid holiday for me so it's just a perfect setup. I've never been up there so I was wondering if I could get some general details on parking, trains, etc? I'll probably be traveling on I-84 E. Is there parking near the arena, and if so how much? Are there garages that I can park in then take a train to the arena? How much would that be, or can you provide a website? Is there any point where traffic is ridiculous like the tunnells entering NYC? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Are you staying the night? I'd assume you are, just find a hotel with a parking lot and take the T

Someone else will probably give you current rates, but there is parking right by the TD Bank Garden. However, there is one fee prior to 7 PM, and another one after 7 PM. Since you will probably want to enjoy one of the pubs across the street (easy to cross) from the Garden, if you get there before 7 PM, you pay double (last time I went was 2 or 3 years ago, it was 10 bucks a pop ($20 if you get there before 7). I live in NYC, and used to drive up. Now, with NBA League Pass, it's less of an urge, although I can still catch the Celtics at the Meadowlands (Nets) or MSG (Knicks).

Another advantage of getting there early is you can park on a lower level of the 10 or so level parking garage, which makes it a lot easier to exit when you want to go home. First or 2nd level is ideal for a quick exit, especially if you know where to put your car so others don't keep cutting in front of you.

If you decide to drive in don't park in the TD Garden garage as it is the most expensive. There are 3-4 garages within a 5 minute walk of the Garden and are only $18-$20 as opposed to the Garden garage which is $30. If you are trying to save money the hotels around the Garden are not the place to go. I think there is a Marriott or Sheraton right across the bridge in Charlestown which is walking distance to the Garden and might be cheaper. My suggestion would be to find a hotel outside of the City (try Newton) and take the T into Boston.

Thanks for the responses, and obviously I'll do some research of my own as the time gets closer. I'm not going to stay overnight though, and I don't drink so I won't be visiting any bars.

Just one more question, I don't plan to spend a lot on tickets, I'm fine with sitting in the upper level. eBay Or Stubhub is going to be my best bet. Do the games sell out quick, or can I wait to get a better price? Right now eBay has $50 tickets that I know the seller only paid $10 for. Anyone ahve any idea how much is reasonable for a pair in the upper level? I paid $30 for a pair in NY last season and I thought that was a very good deal.
