OT: Live or 2K

Post#1 » by TheMan44 » Fri Sep 4, 2009 8:46 am

Here's an off-topic issue that's been asked a million times each season:

NBA Live or NBA 2K

I've played and enjoyed both for the past 10 years or so and each season one claims they are completely re-worked and have a better brand than the other.

We all know Live used to be king and we all know the infamous decline of Live about 4 seasons ago. 2K has ruled the market for a while now, but.............check out the new Live trailers for 2010. They look amazing.

So, LIVE or 2K for this season?

Westbrook
Roy
Earl Clark
Aldridge

Haven't seen the gameplay of 2k10 or Live 10 yet but I've read about 2K10. Last year I got 2K9, which amazingly was my first 2K title. Before then I've just been playing Live. Since switching to 2K, I've never looked back.

Before I got 2K9 i downloaded the demos on PS3 for both 2K9 and Live 09, and I thought Live was quicker and more arcadey. The post play didn't feel as refined as 2K. The only things I thought Live had on 2K was the commentary and off-court presentation, everything else went to 2K.

If you are a hardcore NBA fan and a gamer, I'd go with 2K. I've always felt Live was too casual for me.

NBA 2k10 for sure. Good reason why you should get NBA 2k10? Because all of us on here prefer the 2k series, except for Maryvale......

Do you want to be like Maryvale??

2K FTW!

If you want the arcade feeling off the game, go with live.

2k. Miles better.

And if you want to play the worst basketball game ever, try Live 08/09 for the Wii.

LOL, i have it for the Wii, but never play 08/09. I hacked my Wii, so all 100+ games that i have for it were free (im a pirate!). Until i pony up the cash for a new ps3 (PS3 slim for 299 now) I use my duel video card pc for my ultra-gaming. 2K9 for PC and a crossfire setup 4850 look freakin' AWESOME! :D

I still think the worse basketball game is :

Yes, i too have been on the 2K bandwagon for last 2 years,

but......

you cannot discount the fact that NBA Live 2010 looks amazing.

They promised changes - very big changes - that will top 2K this season once and for all.

I think LIVE wins the debate for now............(check out their EA website for videos. amazing stuff)

i agree with you, Live is looking ALOT like 2K, and its not a coincidence since 2K's former lead basketball game designer is now lead designer for NBA live 10

Live was awesome... 10 years ago. NBA live 2001 was the first sports game that was able to get me hooked. Live 06 had some pretty cool new features and a good soundtrack, but the series kinda went to crap after that.

2K is more realistic in terms of gameplay, and has more accurate ratings. Main reason I like it better then Live is cuz of the difficulty levels. Beating the computer in NBA live was too easy even in the hardest level, while the 2K AI is basically unbeatable at the top difficulty level...

Well pretty much the same here. I have 2k9 for PC and with the highest settings, it looks amazing. My Wii is also hacked. I would have never spent that much money on those games :D

For me the best bball games were NBA Live 95 and 2000 (I think this one had the first franchise mode). And 2k9 is probably even better than those ones.

And of course NBA JAM.

Live looked great last year as well but the gameplay felt too casual. I wouldn't be surprised if Live looked better than 2K this year either. But to me gameplay comes 1st, presentation comes after.

If Live would change the player models to look realistic, like how they do in Fifa or even Madden, it'd be all about Live...

The ONLY problem i have really with live is that the players all look like cartoons.

2k FTW... even though Dwight is on the cover of Live... sorry mang
