Is the finger healed or isn’t it?

Pau Gasol will not play in Spain’s final tune-up game against Lithuania on Thursday because the doctor said he could risk further damage to his left index finger that he inujred last month while practicing with the Spanish National team.

In an interview with well-known Spanish journalist Jose Angel de la Casa (who probably can’t compare to Vic the Brick), Gasol said he hopes to get medical clearance by the time the European Championships begin Sept. 7.

“I’ll do everything I can to get confidence and that the finger get used to the situations of ball contact,” the Lakers forward said in the interview posted on his website...

the important news here is that pau gasol has a website. news to me.

I wish he wouldn't play but I know he has obligations to his country. With all of the games some rest would be best for him this offseason. Hopefully Bynum and Odom play well enough to lessen his minutes during the regular season.

If he is healthy when training camp starts and misses some spain games then blessing in disguise.

Get that ugly uniform off him and bring him home to rest and train with the best in the world and get the best medical treatment in the world. We need him for the long run. Well rested and 100 percent healthy. He does not need some useless little trophy that no one will remember in a month from now.

training camp opens oct 1 (3 1/2 weeks)
euro championships start tomorrow (9/7)

for the lakers sake i hope he doesn't play but obviously hes got a loyalty to his country so can't fault him for that. if he missed a couple of spain's early games and came back for the finals rounds i couldn't complain. just concerned about the heavy minutes hes logged in la during two seasons that ran late thru june with the an olympic summer in between...
Thank you, Phil.

Once again for Spain, Gasol is having huge problems at the charity line. He's 1/8!!!!

Score is Serbia 64 Spain 55...
