Matt Hughes Signs Multi Fight Deal With The UFC

Post#1 » by Headliner » Sat Sep 5, 2009 6:52 pm

From his blog:

Last week I went out to Vegas and I signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC, which is much like my last contract. I also brought up the fact that I wanted to do a hunting show and they thought that would be a good thing. They still have to find out who, where and when my next fight will be and I will try to post that info ASAP. Nothing is decided yet, so anything you might be reading on the internet right now is just rumors and speculation. However, one name the UFC did bring up is a person I’ve never fought before.

Wonder who he fights next?

Id like to see a Penn/Hughes rubber match in the near future.

Bah!
I understand the love of self sustainable living...but man, i personally hate hunting/watching hunting. Saying that is pretty much blasphemy where i'm from.
I like the other side of SSL. Growing your own food. Man, can you ever taste the difference, and feel the difference in your wallet, even with a somewhat conservative garden.

On a side note, the hunting show might actually be a good idea if the UFC does what some have suggested and create their own MMA channel. I wouldn't watch it, but some people would.

I can actually imagine all that negative publicity.

I'm not a proponent of hunting, but PETA can **** right off.

I don't give a **** what they say about anything, and I'm sure 99.9% of MMA fans feel the same way. Mac Danzig being the lone exception.

I'm not sure how much involvement the UFC would have with this Matt Hughes hunting show anyway. It could be anywhere from no involvement at all (Hughes just being allowed to pursue this outside endeavor) or full out production and promotion. Somewhere closer to the former would make the most sense to me.

The former would make most sense. While I myself am not a supporter of PETA and other such organizations, the latter option would just be terrible. And I don't just mean for publicity outside of the UFC. The UFC producing and handling Matt Hughes' ridiculous and boring hunting show? I'll pass LOL

Good new's that Matt Hughes is back, actually probably one of the few WW's that I can get behind in fights, not that I think he'll be champ again though (but his career and legacy doesn't need another belt, he's done more than enough to be cemented as one of the greats)

I do love in that clip in the comments all the dudes talking about "WHY IS HE WEARING CAMMO AND A BRIGHT ORANGE VEST?", comical.

As for the hunting thing, I don't really care about it, I was brought up at a very young age on things like that back when we went to Ireland, I was shown young where my food comes from, and always been quite happy with it. There's this called the Food Chain, and what I do, is get it and beat my dinner down with it.

I watched a hunting show once and it was just a half hour of a guy standing in a tree

I've heard his next fight will be against Swick at UFC 105 or 106.

Interesting fight for both guys if true.
