Team for Team Trades

Post#1 » by Mezotarkus » Mon Sep 7, 2009 4:13 pm

Assume the Bobcats received a proposal for a full team swap. All of our players for all of their players. Forget about the CBA, trade restrictions, etc. What teams would you turn down?

The only teams that I believe I'd turn down are the Kings and the 76ers. The Kings are really bad and don't have huge cap flexibility for a few years. The 76ers have what might be the scariest contract in the league in Brand's - not too injured to get a medical exceptino but too injured possibly to ever justify his contract.

All other teams I'd do the swap.

I think you're lying, Slam. You'd take the Spurs.

question... if i trade for a team's roster would i get that city? for example, if i trade with the knicks i assume i get their roster and their capspace in 2010, but they would be here in charlotte where having 30 mil in capspace doenst mean crap cause lebron or bosh or wade aint ever coming here on their own free will.

if thats the case then here is my list
knicks - no (cap space not as important here)
nets - no
pacers - no (granger not enough)
memphis - no (mayo and gay not enough)
kings - no
warriors - no (randolph is the only piece i like for the money)
twolves - no (jefferson and love, not worth it)
sixers - maybe (iggy and young are great)
clippers - maybe (would love to have griffin but could care less about all the rest)

i think all others would be a yes.

OK for a real answer, the team would have to be worse than us, but not have sufficient potential for the future to overcome that.

I would not want:
Detroit
Indiana
Jersey
Milwaukee
NYC
Memphis
Sacramento
Minnesota

I'd be a bit on the fence about the Sixers and Warriors, but I would probably take them.

In order starting with the worst

1. Knicks
2. Bucks
3. Grizzlies
4. Pistons
5. Pacers
6. Kings

And you could definitely give me the Clippers, I think a healthy Kaman along with having Griffin replace Randolph/Camby/Thomas at the 4 spot is going to do wonders for that team. Gordon's not bad and neither is Thornton (at least as a sixth man) and if Baron is fully healthy and motivated I think this could easily be a playoff team in the East with plenty of potential.

The right answer is to turned down everyone. And from one POV I would do that, I'm rooting for this team, these guys and I want THEM to succeed. I have no Carolina ties, I'm not fan of Bobcats because they are from Charlotte. Sure, there are better squads, I'm ok with that team is changing (especially under Larry Brown) and can be very different soon, but I want continuity, I want to witness how they scrapped to the top (or failed to) and root for them in the process. Not just some deux ex machina, here you have Spurs or whoever, a contender. Yes we could win that way but I would feel cheated. And of course I would miss several guys, like Crah for example.

Of course I assume that in that hapothetical situation I'm not paying the salries like Bob Johnson is doing now. Then I would want a superstar if I could ASAP.

I think I'm in the same boat as everyone else... but what about top 5 teams you'd want to trade for given chance?

#1. Lakers
#2. Magic
#3. Portland
#4. Cleveland
#5. New Orleans (out of spite)

Obviously it's LAL, Magic, Cleveland, Portland, and then probably the Celtics. I think I'm with you on New Orleans, except purely on a talent basis, getting Paul would be great. Wade and the Heat also.

I have not seen anything here to change my mind. King and Sixers I'd say no too. Everyone else - it'd be an upgrade either talent wise, potential wise or future flexibility wise.

I'd be happy with a simple owner swap. Say Cuban for our knucklehead.

That's just idiotic, of course everyone loves a rookie salary for players that are all star bound.

So, anyone want to reconsider? I'm thinking maybe the Kings and 76ers might not be so bad after all.

Wiz-'Cats (Bell for Young and Stevenson)

I think that's pretty darn good value for Raja's expiring contract...but I'm dubious on whether we'd be willing to take on Stevenson's extra year (4 million give or take).

You want a scorer? Nick Young is a scorer.

I wouldn't touch anything from the L.A. Clippers. Rockets, Spurs, or Mavericks.

^ interesting proposal.

Young is definitely a lights out scorer but he's also as one-diminsional as it gets. doesnt pass, doesnt rebound, doesnt defend.

They could do alot worse for getting rid of Raja though.

If Bell gets healthy, has some good games and the wheels fall off for the cats mid season (which i think they will), I'd be perfectly content to see them dump bell to a contender for a mid to late first.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=953782&p=21061290#p21061290

Wilson Chandler, Jordan Hill, Eddy Curry, Jared Jeffries (~$20.7M) for Boris Diaw, Raja Bell, Dasagana Diop (~$20.3M)

Done deal.

Hill is a nice young prospect who can develop into a nice 18/9 scoring threat. Chandler would be great addition, who can come off the bench or even start at the 2.

Yeah, we have to take Curry's fat ass and Jeffries in return, but god damn, their contracts will be off the books in 2011, and with Chandler, Jeffries, Nazr, Radman, and Curry expiring, we will have a load of cap space. Apart from that, a healthy Curry can be more or less useful. Unlike Diop, who seems to be the worst player in the league.

Felton/Augustin
Chandler/Henderson/Murray
Wallace/Brown/Radman/Graham
Hill/Ajinca/Jeffries
Chandler/Nazr/Curry
