Wally Szczerbiak ?

Post#1 » by kgnwally » Tue Sep 8, 2009 4:45 pm

would it be worth it to bring back Wally to be the primary backup for PP? Wally has played for the celtics before and with kg back in minnesota( the good ol days). he is a shooter off the bench as well as allowing us to slide marquis daniels primarily to backup ray ray and rondo when needed. wally can probably be had for the minimum and I think he would be a good fit at this point of his career. i remember kg n wally had a couple of scuffles in the past but thats all in the past and hes a knock down shooter that can come in handy off the bench. feel free to comment and share your thoughts

Don't he and KG not get along? I like Wally but his knees are completely shot and he cannot even move side to side anymore. I would not even bother with him at this point.
Reggie stood out like a sore thumb no tattoos no agenda no chirping nothing Just a guy who could score at will He played college ball at Northeastern he replaced Larry as Celtics captain he belonged to Boston.
And I still miss him. Even now.

I don't think you really want us to share our thoughts on this one. Suffice to say, no to Wally.

No thanks. Having Wally here once was enough

Its not the worst idea in the world. As others have said he may not have enough left in the tank. I think the "feud" with KG would be a non issue. If KG thought he would help us win a title, I don't think he would care at all, winning is the ONLY thing that matters to KG (and thankfully the rest of our core.)

I think Wally has gotten a bad rap throughout his career. Sure he was over paid for a while, but thats not really his fault. If we could get the Celtcs Wally from a few years ago than yes. Despite how some viewed him, I think he played hard out there on a team that was going nowhere. I'm big on thinking some players have "it" and some don't. "it" doesn't mean they are the best in the world, just a strong desire to win and I think Wally has it.

Bringing Wally in would be a long shot and depend on a few factors:

1. First and foremost: Does he have enough left to help
2. Is there a better option for our last spot? Especially at the point.
3. If Danny feels that Walker or Giddions have a shot to step up and help or gain some trade value, this is probably a road block for Wally too.

A final option might be to pick him up as the season goes by if PP, RA or HOuse goes down.

The back up for Pierce will be Daniels and/or Walker.

I liked Wally when he was here he really brought a lot of passion and a few clutch shots/game winners but then he got hurt lol. Bottom line is Daniels will backup PP and KG doesnt like him so I say no.

No Thanks. I can't stand Wally. He's one of my LEAST favorite basketball players. Plus, he couldn't even defend me if I took him on one on one

It just seems like Wally's problems defending outweigh his dead eye shooting at this point in his career...

If he could defend anywhere's as good as Ray, lets say, I'd say sign him up...but that's just not going to happen now...

Instant offense off the bench, second unit sniper to offset Daniels' slashing, I think t could actually be a good fit. But I doubt very much that it will ever happen.

Asking about Wally Z is ok, but the profile name is a bit much- are you his agent or a part of his entourage? Hoping for a KG/Wally reunion is like hoping for a reunion of "Wings" - no one really objects to it, but no one really wants to see it, either.

Wally's deadeye shooting seems to disappear when you need it - and he has propensity to do stupid things at key times.. I say pass. We have our rotation set as is. Bench is Sheed/BBD/Daniels/House...

A 9 man rotation - with one of Pierce, KG, Ray Allen to anchor the second unit in there at all times. Even that wasn't enough our 'deep bench" is as good as our "bench" was last year with TA, Scalabrine, S. Williams, Walker, Giddens and Hudson on there.

Wally is OK but we have better, quicker, more athletic shooters in Ray and Eddie.

hahah no im not his agent im just a fan of kg from back in minnesota and kg n wally seemed to be a good tandem. i said seemed lol that one year they were both all stars i thought we had something going but quicklly realized wally will never be more than a role player let alone bench player. the name has stuck ever since its even my ebay name

I don't think he is worth the min anymore. I'd rather save the roster spot.

Return to Boston Celtics
