Amazing performance from Ömer Aşık.

Great basket from Lorbek, and the Slovenians send it to overtime!

Well, the Spaniards themselves are pretty good, but it's impossible playing against the refs, too. I've never seen one ref blowing a whistle and the other one leaving the game to continue.

Every European team that wants to win against Spain needs to beat the refs too. I think we are all pretty much used to that by now...Anyway, good game, loved the intensity!

what? the refs are not showing any respect to Spain. Any at alll

And:

1) no ref whistled, it was the ball possesion buzz, which sounded after the shot as it does many times and the game never stops

2) the play you tied up was travelling. he did 4 backward steps before the shot

good game

I admit it was traveling, but Pau fouled him before that. Just look where he pushed him. The worst reffing was in 1st quarter, where everything was called a foul, and in OT.

That gif is missing the push by Pau. And one bad call doesn't negate many bad calls before that, sorry.

Slovenia wasnt defeated by Spain, it was defeated by refs.. Yea, those were 4 steps, but PAU pushed him even before that..

Anyhow, it was a great game of 2 top tier teams in this EC..
Dragič really played great the 4th quarter

Spain - Croatia 2005

Spain - Greece 2007

The refs handed Spain those games on a silver platter. This game was no surprise either. Same old FIBA refs and Spanish national team antics.

I don't remember the Greece game, but even with his trolling nature, he's right about the Croatia game. That was just disgusting.

Great Britain did me proud. They went win less, but they remained competitive with each and every team in the group of death.

Goran Dragic was very impressive today hounding chubby Carlos Cabezas which resulted in immediate turnovers, which allowed Dragic to lead the Slovenians to a come back. It was certainly a travel by Lorbek, but we can live with that since the Spaniards failed to close the game out as they should have. An improved performance by Spain, but they still don't look like their usual selves just yet. I look forward to seeing how they matchup with Turkey in a days time.

Great first round of Eurobasket.

Is Ben Gordon actually going to suit up for Team GB come 2012?
Humble yourself.

Who knows. He didn't play this time around as he wanted to spend his summer signing his contract and settling in with Detroit. He has confirmed interest since, but I won't believe it until I see it.

GB are desperately in need of guard play, so I'll still welcome him with open arms despite sensing a lack of commitment/interest.

Hopefully GB can get a wild card spot for the World Championships.
