At least we're not Pirates fans...

The Pittsburgh Pirates are assured of a losing record for the 17th consecutive season after losing 4-2 on Monday.

The string of losing seasons is a major league record and the longest for any team in the four major North American pro team sports. Only the Phillies (1933-48) have had as many as 16 losing seasons in a row.

Ouuuuch. Yeah, that's hurt. But at the end of the day they still got the Steelers and Pens. Andrew McCutchen is awesome btw.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

Wow yeah he's had a good rookie season so far. He's going to be a useful piece for a contender once he gets traded in 4-5 years.

they first need a new GM, then a new manager.

they are assured to get fleeced in almost any deal they make.

and their players suck anyways.

There are only 3 teams that have had a longer playoff drought than the Toronto Blue Jays.

Kansas City Royals
Pittsburgh Pirates
Washington Nationals/Montreal Expos

Whether you are 30 games below .500 or 10 games above not making the playoffs is not making the playoffs. Can't really feel better regardless when you lumped into the likes of that golden trio.

Kansas City and Pittsburgh are almost certainly moving in the right direction. Its sad to say, but both of those teams at least have a clear path for the future whereas no one knows WTF is going on in Toronto.

Yep, even KC and Pittsburgh are figuring out that you have to invest in the draft if you can't invest in payroll.

The Mets have the second highest payroll in baseball at $135 million while we're at $80 million and probably going down, all while being saddled by Wells' atrocious contract. They'll have a much easier time getting back in shape than us.

Sorry, but Dayton Moore doesn't have that team moving anywhere near the right direction. I'm waiting for his next humorous signing.

We are one bad Halladay trade away from being the Pirates or Royals.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
