Ginobili vs Dre vs Bibby

Post#1 » by Death Knight » Sat Sep 12, 2009 11:01 pm

In a keeper league, I have Chris Paul and Amare Stoudemire.......between Manu Ginobili, Andre Miller, and Mike Bibby, who should I choose as my 3rd and final keeper? 20 teams H2H standard 9 cat league. Each team gets 3 keepers and the rest goes back into the up coming draft.

All 3 are in their 30s, and it is unclear as to how they will be utilized this season. The Spurs added RJ, the Hawks acquired Jamal Crawford and drafted Jeff Teague, while Portland still have capable guards like Steve Blake, Rudy Fernandez, and Jerryd Bayless.

I am slightly leaning towards 1 of them over the other 2, but I want to hear some advices first. Thanks.

Give me Manu Ginobli. He has the highest ceiling of all three. With Bibby and A. Miller you know what you are going to get. They are better pursued through the redraft. Manu was 13th in per game value and 18th in cumulative value in 2007-08 (according to BBM).

Nice set if keepers btw.

I was leaning towards Ginobili as well. He also took the offseason to get his health back.

Andre Miller's assists totals have been going down the past several years, and with Brandon Roy creating much for himself, I predict that trend will continue. Also, I don't really want to tank 3pt shooting with Andre Miller on board, especially if Amare doesn't up his block totals back to normal, then I'll start off weak in that category as well.

I never really considered Mike Bibby all that much, but just the last guy on my roster who is worth mentioning.

Thanks guys.

Andre Miller is a point in the purest form and he will make the young blazers smoking hot scoring machines. I am very high on Dre this year. Philadelphia wasn't a great situation but he still managed to put up top 50ish avg's and totals. In Portland he'll need to score less and be able to pass more, especially if Oden develops. He'll also play eighty games. Manu overall maybe be a bit more well rounded and he can get hotter, but i like Andre millers game better.

I'd like Andre Miller's game a lot more next season if Steve Blake wasn't in the picture at PG for Portland. Who knows how the PG position will pan out, except to say I don't expect either one to play 35+ minutes at PG. I'm thinking a 28 / 20 minutes split at PG (or something close to that).

Manu is the smart choice here Death Knight.

No way Miller came to Portland to lose time to a backup caliber pg like blake. I am looking at a career year for Andre.

I do expect Miller to be the starting pg for Portland, but I don't see the kind of production that you are seeing DNY. Blake is a better spot up shooter to play alongside someone like Brandon Roy, so I still see him getting valuable minutes. Maybe a 28 for MIller and 20 for Blake split like hoop-head suggested.

I also expect Brandon Roy to take it to another level and have a better year than he did last year, which means that he's gonna have to have control of the ball more often, leaving Miller off the ball more times than not. Whenever a team has a top notch dynamic wing player (Wade, LeBron, Kobe, Roy, etc...) the pg becomes less relevant in terms of production. In such cases, the PGs are asked to provide leadership on the floor more than be relied upon for their production in numbers.
