Trade to announce:

WB trades:
Wilson Chandler and Shane Battier

BWW trades:
Ron Artest

There are those that will poo-poo this deal, but I would like to point out that I picked up Wilson Chandler on waivers to end the season 2 years ago, a nice little investment, imo.

I will also be making my last draft pick in about an hour.

Haha, you guys are funny. Classless? It would have been classless if I insulted WB the person, something from his real life. I don't think it's going over the line when you're just insulting the manager and their prowess in fantasy basketball. I also think on subject of what's "personal", it's more personal to call the person by their name than anything else b-dub. And nice pick WB.

Skai, you suck! Your team is rubbish and I heard from a semi-anonymous source that your stench radiates for miles! In fact, I think I can smell you from here! Your online persona irks me sooo much Skai that I refuse to email you ever again! Never again will you come home from a long day of work to a giant face morphing smile after you find my name gracing your inbox! In fact, I find what little I know of you from the times we've talked over the internet to be soooo objectionable that I can no longer stand to type your internet username into my keyboard using metacarpals one through five on either hand! From here on out I will only refer to you as a typed period, and that'll be reeeally confusing for you skai because everytime I end a sentence or abbreviate a word I can't spell, you'll have no clue whether I'm talking about you or not! And here's the final blow Skai, and I know this will hurt, esp. since I know how much you care about about my opinion - all my thoughts about you from here on out will be strictly malevolent! And that includes your stinky fantasy team too!

Bring it Skai! Bring it.

Burned. That Skai guy must suck.

I think when you say something like "Go **** yourself" that's pretty personal, don't you think?

In other news...is the draft officially done now that I've made the last pick?

Geez WB, horrible trade. Chandler/Battier could both finish above Artest this year.

Have to agree with that. By end of last season, Chandler was better than Artest inn fantasy value. Battier should have a good season with Yao hurt, Artest gone, and McGrady questionable as usual. Artest in LA will be interesting, but it's not going to help his fantasy value.

I love it when you try and trade a guy (battier) and everyone else says he has no value, until you trade him. In fact, I have to say...in this league, very few people EVER trade. Stanford and I joke around that He, BWW, Me, Ham and occasionally East have been swapping each others' players around for the last 3 years. And...frankly, it's true. No one wants to trade, and when they do, you never get the value that everyone else claims you should have gotten. Trading is a tricky thing. A player is only worth as much as the other manager is willing to buy him for, and with everyone trying to get as close to a rip-off deal as possible, it makes it virtually impossible to get a good deal unless you catch someone off guard and fool them (ahem Stanford's Pau Gasol and Wade deal). What's more...you try to buy low and sell high. with Chandler, I bought as low as you could go...and I got major flak for even using him in a trade offer for the last 2 years (Yes, it earned me an f-bomb laden response from Carl).

So...my message to you and the rest of the boo-birds on this one...start offering REAL value for players, BEFORE they get traded to someone else...otherwise, you have no say in trades like this.

But...since you also make a statistical accusation...I'll bite:
Chandler/Battier could finish above Artest? Chandler finished higher than artest last year? It's possible, yes. But I went into this with 3 assumptions:

1. Chandler "could be" the potential best player, but he did his real damage in 35-40 minutes a game last year. Fast forward 6 months, and NY has upgraded its roster. Gallinari ( an apparent D'Antoni favorite) is reportedly healthy and who reportedly will be a focal point of the offense. They signed Darko, who will get his minutes and share of the offense/defense. Throw in that Larry Hughes is in a contract year and always plays 10x harder when his contract is at stake (nice pick Sly). All this together and you have to ask yourself--will Chandler actually get 40 minutes/game? Doubtful. In fact, I think he hit his ceiling, and ESPN agrees. So, I was trying to sell Chandler high. I wanted to sell him higher, and like I said, if I could, I would have.

2. Artest will be more efficient in the Laker/Triangle offense. Again, ESPN agrees here. With the defenses focused on Pau and Kobe, Artest should easily bring in: 15-18 ppg and 2 threes at 46% FG. Throw in his good passing and defense (4 assists, 1.8 steals), and I think that mark will best Chandler with his potentially reduced minutes and Battier (who is old). And, while I'm on Battier, no one notices, but his numbers have been declining. He used to have his value in his 1+ threes, 1+ steals, and 1+ blocks per game, plus his solid %s. Every year he has declined to the point that he's averaging 40% FG, less than a block and less than a steal a game. He still gets 1.5 threes, but that's the end of his value...and don't tell me that without Ming, he should get more opportunity...his minutes have been consistent over the last 3 years (30+ minutes). In fact, that whole "Ming Minutes" argument has been used for nearly every last person on the Rockets...down to bottom-level rookies like Chase Budinger and David Andersen. Everyone can't get 10x better because one guy goes down!

3. My 3rd assumption was this: It's not a 2 for 1, it's a 2 for 2. You'll notice I drafted McDyess, who'll give me a near double double starting in San Antonio. So, it's not Artest for Chandler and Battier, it's Artest and McDyess for Chandler and Battier, and I don't think it's a far cry to say: Artest > Chandler and McDyess > Battier. In other words, I got the 2 best players in the deal. you can't argue with that.

Don't agree with the trade, but definetly agree with the sentiment. It's hard to get full value for players when theres only a handfull of active managers, especially considering I'm one of those managers and I refuse to give full value for anyone!

I hope you weren't taking a shot at me there Brian. I love Battier, I just think his age doesn't make him conducive to a rebuilding team like mine.

Agree with Coady though, would love to see some more activity from everyone.

I've been taking enough shots as it is...if a few ricochet off, I can't help that, now can I? 8-)

Teams have been fed into Yahoo and we are ready to start. Move all league activity to the Yahoo page, but keep the talk going in here.

Waiver priority is a reverse order of lottery results...so Stanford #1 and tk #14.

Let me know if there are any errors.

Nice to see Stanford/Setterlund in Week 1 as the marquee matchup.

I'd rather of seen WB vs Setterlund in week 1.

Although there is a big Sett vs. WB matchup in the second to last week of the season. I'm just giddy with the possible implications. Frankly, anything less than than 12 wins against WB this year and I'll be disappointed.
