Anyone else think Steve Nash is going to pull a Kurt Warner?

Post#1 » by MaryvalesFinest » Mon Sep 14, 2009 7:42 am

Both these guys had very similar situations. The Cardinals like the Suns considered an aging Kurt Warner to be the backbone of the team, they paid him a huge amount of cash expecting him to put up similar results.

Now I know it's only one game but after watching it I came to the conclusion Warner is done. He's old, hurt, he doesn't seem interested and didn't have that energy he had last year. Now of course it's not just his fault, afterall the Cardinals had 12 penalties but just by watching him play you could tell that since he got his last payday he's just playing like he's not interested. Than you have a guy with alot of potential like Leinart sitting on the bench, wasn't given much of a chance and just because they paid Warner the money he will probably be on the bench another two years even though he's ready to play.

After watching the Cardinals lose today this got me thinking it's quite a similar situation to the Suns. They paid Nash a huge amount of money because they considered him the backbone of their team and chances are Dragic wont get much of a chance since the Suns are going to basically be forced playing Nash to save face even if he declines.

Anyone else think this situation is similar and could possibly happen to the Suns this year?

After a full day of drinking (what was that god awful blue concoction we were drinking?) i'm not surprised it's only a "vague" recollection :D

Nope. Nash is still an elite PG. This year, his stats will be even better than last season.
The Phoenix Suns - 54-28. Projected Record: 54-28 3rd Seed

The Phoenix Suns - 2010-2011 Projected Record: 30-52 3rd lottery pick.

This thread is indicative of your warpath Mary... no sense in denying it.

Yeah hopefully that doesn't happen but if anyone watched yesterdays game you could see Warner isn't the same player both physically and emotionally he was last season.

I was at the cards game yesterday. I believe an unfair conclusion has been drawn due to one bad game warner is "done". He played like crap and they only lost 20-16. It wasn't just warner, it was our whole offense as a whole.

Nash....no. Expect slight increases to stats this year. The ball's back in his hands where he's comfortable and Gentry gives him the reigns.

Not only do I expect Nash to be old and done and uninterested this year, i expect him to rape and murder children, and eat them. And only Mary will be unsurprised

Kurt has had a better career than Nash, and for the idiots around me at the game yesterday who were chanting 'Put in Leinart' just stop already... thx

One bad game for warner and he's done? The Rams and Giants both thought he was done too before he lead us to the super bowl last year. So I wouldnt bury him just yet.

And Yeah John, You're Right, I'm surprised Nash hasn't already started Eating Kids. Kurt Warner as well.... he has enough at home to feed himself for months.

See the keyword in that whole sentence was "hopefully". If your going to be a hater at least be upfront about it. Come on now, if Nash broke both his legs and back and hands caught cancer and had to pee with a bottle you'd be so giddy you might actually give someone a hug Mary.

I just can't decide the scenario that made you hate Nash so much:

1. Not hugged enough as a kid.
2. You waved at Steve and he snubbed you at a game.
3. Your gf/wife called out Steve's name while making out.
4. You are Stephon Marbury trying to regain some internet fans.
5 All of the above

Sigh...

It's not only an unfair conclusion, it's outright absurdity. The guy was a hero, and now in 1 game he;s done.

You probably overrated him last year, and now you're more than underrating him
