Probably because Gortat is gonna eat his head today, and what use is a headless player?

I just quoted you, and would like to see your respond now..

Lorbek is very good, but he is not a center. Just like I said, a real Euroleague center is Pekovic for instance. Lorbek is a power forward that is playing as a center. But he's clearly a power forward in reality. He has more than enough game to be a very good NBA player on offense at power forward.

As for Gortat he's excellent on defense, shot blocking, and rebounding, but he has almost no offensive game at all. His offensive game is mostly put backs and open dunks.

The style of playing has changed a lot in Europe in the last two decades.
At that time there was some fantastic offensive players like Drazen Pedrovic or the brazilian Oscar Schmidt. But, honestly, they couldn't deffend my grandmother.
Petrovic didn't even win the Spanish league with Real Madrid.
On the other hand, players like Jordi Villacampa had great performances when playing against NBA players (Reggie Miller, Magic Johnson, Chris Mullin)

This an odd thread, mainly dominated by ognorance (Russians are Asians?) and the fact people forget that the US has really struggled with European teams and Argentina (no ginobili is not european) mzinly because they play an incoherent style of play. You have lss time which means the margins for error can only be shorter.
Anyhow, i wont name a team, but after watching the Euros a few players impressed me, like Sofoklis Scortsianitis (rights owned by clips i beleive) and the Lorbek brothers (are they brothers?).

From players that did not participate i would never leave out of team, Papaloukas, Calderon and Diamantidis.

However, my dream low post would include Dirk and Pau. They dominate the NBA anyway in their positions. ( I will not comment on people mentioning Gortat as a leading Euro centre)

In regards to the US its not bout putting best players together onto a bus but getting 12 guys that are willing to play together.

Firstly they need a coach that can teach them to run the ball and take advantage of their speed and general athletic ability. They need to press the court to force errors and create easy buckets, this will diminish the impact of their poor shooting on results.

top of my head starting 5
Chauncey
Kobe
LeBron
(im not sure about PF ill sleep on it, though i want KG on the team)

Lorbeks are brother, yea.. Erazem is FAR more talented than Domen, which is a good defensive player and can play offense as well, but just when he has "has" his day..
But ok, lets play with team Europe;

Parker - Jasikevicius - Teodosič
Rudy Fernandez - Navaro - Bečirovič/Rakočevič
Ilyasova - Papalukas - Kirilenko
Dirk -Lorbek -Smodis
Gasol - Gasol - Pekovič

not very sure about the second Gasol, and i´d change Jasikevicius (hell of a player but not D against USA ) for Calderon

Well, Gasol could be changed for Bargnani/Biedrins/Okur, but i think that he would play well...

About Jasikevicious - Maybe Diamantidis would do better:)

Beats

Parker/Calderon/Rubio?
Fernandez?/Pietrus?/Peja?
Hedo/??
Dirk/Bargnani?
Gasol/Gortat?

I'm sure I'm missing some Euros there but still...

It'd be a better game if it was USA vs. World

mmm.... Maybe.

Nash-Parker-Rubio
Ginobili-R.Fernandez
Kirilenko-Pietrus-Hedo
Dirk-Gasol
Yao Ming/Marc Gasol....
