OT: Knicks Sign Sun Yue

Hoopsworld: Knicks Sign Sun Yue

The New York Knicks have been working to add another point guard this summer, and while they missed out on Ricky Rubio and then Ramon Sessions, they appear to have found their man in former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Sun Yue. Don't read too much into the signing, as Sun's contract is supposed to be only partially guaranteed, and like most NBA teams the Knicks are really filling out their training camp roster as much as anything else. They also added former Boston Celtic Gabe Pruitt and Warren Carter, who has been in Europe for the last two seasons. It will be an uphill battle for any of these guys to make the regular season roster, so don't get too carried away trying to figure out where they fit in the big picture.

---- Uphill battle to make the Knicks roster? From what I know of Yue, he's the kind of guard Mike D would love.
Am I wrong?

I am not surprised at all. I thought Mike was going to draft Sun. I guess Mike found his Boris-lite.

This is actually a pretty wise move from a publicity standpoint. A major market team signing a Chinese player gives the Knicks access to the HUGE Chinese fan base. Now this is obviously negated if they waive him, but if he ends up getting regular spot minutes the Knicks may have just padded their ratings.

That's just what I was thinking - had the Grizzlies gone after Yao (or in fact any of the Chinese players ) when they could have, we'd still have a team in Vancouver. Don't even get me started on how easily they could have gotten Nash .......
