Parker is actually 3rd in the tournament in scoring, not 1st. Just to clarify:

http://www.eurobasket2009.org/en/cid_to ... _2009.html

1. Pau Gasol 18.9

2. Ersan Ilyasova 17.3

3. Tony Parker 16.3

4. Vasileios Spanoulis 15.7

5. David Logan 15.5

and he is also 4th in steals and not 1st:

http://www.eurobasket2009.org/en/defaul ... statCat=ST

1. Rudy Fernandez 2.2

2. Nick Calathes 2.0

2. Goran Dragic 2.0

4. Tony Parker 1.9

5. Sergey Monya 1.7

Maybe Spain has the highest ceiling of any team on the Eurobasket, but you don't play every game at top level. Show some humility, please. Some people already forgot about '07 final. This is a sport, you have to win on the court not on paper.

Do you remember the way Spain played in that Eurobasket? Because I don't know if it was the pressure the team had in that tournament or what, but they weren't playing that good. In fact, I think Greece wasn't exactly happy with the referees in the semifinal. And again, Spain was playing as an average team until the game against Lithuania this year. I'm saying the way Spain is playing RIGHT NOW they are the superior team. One week ago they would have lost with France.

It's funny how everybody is saying France was overrated now. And to "I feel devotion", Parker was the scoring leader until this game, I guess that's what Julio was saying.

Parker's not the scoring leader anymore, and all the games count, especially the elimination games.

Fixed: So, as you didn't know Parker was the best scorer until this game all the games count.

I guess you didn't watch the game. Parker was playing against a team defense and they took away his penetrations. Parker will never be any good in such a situation. He can't hit even wide open shots from past 15 feet. Making it sound like Rubio shut him down only proves you didn't watch the game.

Still, it was definitely Rubio's best game of the tournament. Very unlikely he will have another game like that in the next game. He's 18 years old and the chances he has two good games in a row are pretty slim.

You have to be kidding...
Seriously, have you ever watch a single game of Rubio?
The kid was all ACB first team two years ago, over guys like Lakovic, Planinic, Prigioni, Raül López, Pepe Sanchez, Huertas, Cabezas, etc

Rubio had one good game so far in the tournament. And Cabezas, Lopez, Sanchez were or are terrible players.

Yeah, it's truly hilarious seeing people say he is bad or how half Serbia's team is better than him or my favorite that he's only good according to some because he plays in Greece.

So many people that have obviously never watched this guy play basketball that much. Teodosic is an extremely gifted player and actually he's a lot more talented than a guy like Ricky Rubio for example. Teodosic is definitely the most talented Serbian player.

Teodosic played extremely well and might very well be best Serbian player in a few years. There are however several players with huge potential and higher ceiling, but as always it is questionable if they will realize that. As for Teodosic, there are no doubt.

I had the same talk with my friends. I am very impressed from him. When i was watching him in Greece i though that he was a semi decent player who will have a nice career but nothing spectacular, but from his play until now on the tournament he gladly fooled me.

Wow, Greece nearly threw that one away with turnovers. Even more 'wow', how about Hedo continuing to chuck up awful shots? I know he hit a few big ones, but overall his shot selection has been dreadful.

Greece vs Spain should be fun.

It's so hilarious seeing how whenever the name Spanoulis comes on realgm people make fun of him and bash him as being a terrible player. Absurd, this guy is truly something special, what an incredible player.

That´s not true, he played pretty well against Lithuania.

López, Cabezas and Sánchez has been starting point guards in euroleague play-off teams, but that´s not relevant in this conversation.
The point is that he has proven that he can play at the highest level, being superior than some of the best point guards in european basketball such as Prigioni or Lakovic.

Greece was exhausted at the end and that's why they had so many turnovers. Fotsis and Spanoulis had to give 150% to get that win and with the added overtime they were totally spent.

Prigioni and Lakovic are better than he is. He certainly has not proven he is better than those players and actually they are both better than him. This is why so many people start to hate on Rubio. Because people start to overrate him. He is what he is, outstanding for his age, but nothing more than an average player overall.

As for Sanchez, Cabezas, and Lopez, they were good players before, but they are not now and have not been for awhile. In fact Sanchez was 100% washed up during that season you are talking about.

People who make fun of him don´t have a clue about FIBA basketball, simply as that.

I don't think Greece will beat Spain now after this game. Spain had an easy opponent in France and played an easy game against an inferior team. Greece had to play a war versus a great Turkish team (that is far better than France) and had to expend an incredible amount of energy to win it. Plus Koufos is still sick and isn't playing and Greece's big men are getting exhausted because of it.

Calathes is not ready for this level and Kazlauskas can only get away with playing him maybe 2-3 minutes in reality. He tried giving Spanoulis a rest late in the 4th quarter and Calathes almost blew the game. So basically Spanoulis and Zisis are playing huge minutes and only Kalabokis can back them up. But Kalabokis even though he can play point guard is much better as a shooting guard and him and Zisis are redundant. So basically Spanoulis has no backup at all to help him. He's exhausted and at the end of the game he could barely get up the court.

If Koufos would have stayed healthy and if Greece's backup point guard Papamakarios would have not got injured during the training then Greece should have won the gold. But without their backup F/C in Koufos and their backup point guard Papamakarios they don't have enough I think to overcome the exhaustion now to beat Spain. Spain would be rested after playing a relatively easy opponent that never even had any chance of challenging them.

And even if Greece beats Spain they have to play the final again with no rest, so 3 games in 3 days after this Turkey match is just impossible. But considering they lost Koufos and their backup point guard, they accomplished a lot making the semifinal.

True. I will say this, I hope Rubio plays a good game in the semifinal to see a good Spanoulis-Rubio battle.

Sánchez in that season led the ACB in assists playing for Barcelona.

Pepe was a washed up player then, completely. All I am saying is Rubio is one of the best European players ever at age 18, but he's still what he is. He's an 18 year old kid and he's actually an average point guard for the Euroleague. His greatness is the level he is at at his age. It's definitely not based on his level of play against all other players, taking his age out of the equation.
