Did you think the Steelers really needed a new stadium?

Post#1 » by HDMAVS760CA » Thu Oct 11, 2007 5:44 am

A few years ago a Steeler fan said that the Steelers didn't really need a new stadium. Looking at Heinz Field, it looks too corporate to me. I actually preferred their old stadium 3 Rivers. When you see 3 Rivers, it just fit the team. The way it looked, I couldn't picture the Steelers playing anywhere else. For those who went to a game in both stadiums, which stadium do you prefer?
Even though I always hated the Steelers b4 I started watching the NFL, there were a few things I liked about them. Their uniforms from 1970's-1996. They're mainly into the running game & don't do the west hollywood offense. Some of the players have Steeler type names. I mean that names that sounds like that they should be playing 4 them. Most of the great players for that team shoulda been there 4 life also. That they use a 3-4, & 3 Rivers stadium.
Also #7, #36, #86, #16. And Davenport is ok.
Do you also feel that if they were gonna build a new stadium, it shoulda looked similar to 3 Rivers but with lots of upgrades?

I like Heinz feild, it is newer and alot more "high-tech". The feild really isn't in that good of shape though, they share the feild with the Pittsburgh Panthers, having a college team play on your feild and a Pro team play on your feild will tear it up pretty good.

Can't complain about Heinz Field. Pittsburgh needed the upgrade to keep things fresh. Not to say anything was wrong with 3 Rivers Stadium. It was a great place for the Steelers to play whenever I see them on T.V.

I know bettis retired. I was tired at the time & didn't feel like typing the whole name of players. That's who I was referring to.

I know a way I can partially like Heinz Field. If they put some blasted field turf on. Seeing the last 2 night games they had with the grass. And they only play night games on Thursday. Rain happens on anyday but dang.
Oh and another thing 2 like about the Steelers. That they, a storied franchise actually gave a black man a chance in coaching unlike some racist organizations or colleges that are rich in sports history. I wish the Vikings woulda had him the coach instead of their current one.

I'm glad to see Mike Tomlin get the opportunity to coach a team like the Steelers. Sometimes you eventually have to get sick or annoyed of seeing some of these recycled coaches get reused in another team when some ofthese coaches have bad records like Norv Turner in San Diego.

3 Rivers was awesome in its day. The thing Heinz Field needs is field turf. The real grass there is just too messy in typical Pittsburgh weather.
