What do we do?

Option A: Start Nocioni and allow Evans to be our primary ball handeler

Option B: Start Cisco and allow him to take some of the ball handeling pressure off of Evans, especially at first. This would work much like the old Bulls teams where Pippen was the main ball handeler.

I go for option B because I like the though of a Evans/Martin/Cisco trio on the wings who all move well without the ball and will cause fits for defenses. I also dont think there is much, if any, lost defense in inserting Cisco in Nocionis plce.

Start Noc for the following reasons:

1) I don't buy the idea that we need a playmaking SF per se. That just moves Evans off the ball, where he hasn't proven to be effective. What we need to count on here is Evans improving his playmaking. Getting a Hedo-type SF and moving Evans off the ball would be misusing Evans' abilities.

2) Cisco is better off the bench.

3) Keep Noc's value up (since personally--and I don't think I'm alone here--I'd prefer to trade him instead of Cisco).

Start Beno at PG, Mason at SG, Noc at SF, Kenny at PF, and go get Corliss to un-retire and start him at C. C'mon, you know Petrie wants it! hehehehehe.

I see Nocioni starting regardless, he's a good fit too. I think our rotation will look something like this if Mason makes the team:

PG: Evans/Beno
SG: Kevin/Cisco
SF: Noc/Cisco/Mason
PF: Thompson/May/Noc
C: Hawes/May

There are more choices than A or B

IMHO we might see:

PG: Evans/Beno/Sergio
SG: Kevin/Cisco/Mason/Beno/Sergio/Casspi
SF: Noc/Cisco/Mason/Greene/Casspi
PF: Thompson/Noc/May/Greene/Brockman
C: Hawes/Thompson/May/Brockman

Unless GP pulls a backup center out of his hat I expect to see JT at the 5 quite a bit.

I would like to think Evans would be the primary ball handler (future point guard-wise). And I like what Nocioni brings to the court as well. So, option A.

Nocioni has to start because he needs the ball less than Garcia who will be the BJax 6th man. Garcia is as good offensively as Salmons but we can't start Garcia with all offensive guys at the 1/2/4/5. Remember Doug Christie fitting in with same type of starting lineup. You need at least one guy to do the little things. That's why Mason may get time at the 2/3 also for his defense.

Don't worry about Evans. Magic (6-9 PG), Lebron (6-8 PG much of the game), Paul Westphal himself was a 6-4 PG like Gary Payton, DWade is a PG on most possessions, MJ was the PG most of the game, Kobe PG most of the game, Hedo is a PG in crunch time. Evans really looks like a bigger and more athletic Chauncey Billups.
