Guess who's crying about the gasol trade again?

Even if the Stoudemire returns to form, Nash knows the Suns will have a tough time elevating themselves to the ranks of the NBA’s elite.

“It’s tough to say you’re a contender when you look at the Lakers,” Nash said. “The Gasol thing changed everything. Any team in the playoffs that was given Pau Gasol(notes) and didn’t really have to give up anything, that would have a big impact on your team. I think anyone else [with Gasol] would be sitting in the position the Lakers are in now, too.

im 100% sure the phoenix suns would have been too cheap to make that trade so let it go steve. luol deng, rajon rondo, rudy fernandez, joe johnson....nash apparently doesn't remember why these guys aren't his teammates.

Lakers had what it took to get a deal done. We might never had a ending contract like that again. Right place, right time.

Man I love Steve Nash but please get over it bro! This could make sense if he atleast made it to the West finals and lost against us but he's been getting his a$$ knocked out in the 1st round by old a$$ Spurs the last couple of seasons.

Nash is just bitter that his team didn't win anything when they had the chance. He's also butthurt that they beat us in the playoffs twice and got nowhere, while we quickly bounced back and became the class of the league. What a whiny little b*tch.

and on queue the wiretap proves your point

Suns point guard Steve Nash doesn't believe that players should be judged solely on the number of championships they win.

"I'm not one of those people that feel if you don't win a title everything was for naught," Nash told Yahoo! Sports. "Only one team wins it and a lot of times there is luck involved."

Nash signed a two-year contract extension with Phoenix this summer and the Suns are no longer considered a strong title contender after some turnover on both the roster and the coaching staff.

"I don't think it's something you should judge yourself on," Nash added of winning an NBA title. "If you're lucky enough to be on a team that wins it, you should celebrate that. I had one [college] scholarship offer, so for me to experience the things I experienced, for me to travel the world and provide for my family and to play with the amount of teammates that I've enjoyed playing with, there is no way I can look at it at all negatively if I don't win a championship."

thats a good point i didn't even think about. he's crying about the lakers getting pau but his team hasn't been good enough to play the lakers deep in the playoffs anyway. the pau trade has been irrelevant as far as the suns' post season failures are concerned.

Man I hate whiners........let it go Steve, he's only embarrassing himself more and more every time he speaks about it. He needs to be blaming his cheap skate owner Robert Sarver and that puppet of a GM named Steve Kerr. They're the reason the Suns have floundered, you trade Joe Johnson simply because you didn't want to pay him. You repeatedly screwed yourself in draft after draft, believing that fluky "7 seconds or less" offense would actually land you a title.

And if any Sun fan come in and reads this I'll say this for the last time, EVERYBODY and their momma could've had Pau. I'm sure the Lakers wasn't the only team with an expiring contract 2 years ago. Chris Wallace even said himself everybody knew he was on the block. Bottom line is this, nobody wanted to take on his remaining contract for what he was getting.

And for all the people that bash and scolded Memphis, look at them now.........they look pretty damn decent to me. Just like I said they would, that trade gave them time to sort things out. That team is loaded now....OJ Mayo, Iverson, Zack Randolph, Mark Gasol, Conley, Rudy Gay and Hasheem Thabeet. You tell me this team won't compete for the 7th or 8th seed ?

As far as the Suns, they've dismantled them selves not the Lakers. But I'll tell you I wouldn't mind tearing patches from them in the playoffs again and I'm willing to bet the house we'll sweep them.

Gasol killed the Suns hard. The Gasol trade basically triggered the Shaq and JKidd trade. The trades following were purely reactionary. The funny thing about it is the Lakers never played the Suns in the playoffs with Gasol.

Can't fault this guy, he has Kerr and Sarver at the front office for crying out loud! LOL!

I think the statements Steve makes about winning titles is telling about his personality vs guys who do win title:

Steve Nash: Those guys have all the luck. I'm not going to win a title so why not justify it with a bunch of crap about how winning a title isn't important.

Kobe Bryant(who I"m question many things on, but admit is a winner) calls out his management to do more. Calls out his teammates to make themselves champions (not just the most they can be, but champions) Result: Guys step up and even before Pau made themselves title contenders from a team the media gave no respect to and consisting of career underachievers and youth. Guys like Vlad Rad, Sasha, and an 19yr old kid learning on the job. Management's months of working phones at Kobes request then unveils a hidden gem of a trade facilitated by an owner who also does care about titles even after winning more than any owner living at the moment, and unlike Sarver, he could give a crap about maximizing the business numbers and amassing 1st round hype that can keep the books in the black while the team does... ah who cares 'long as they bring people and owning a team can woo businessmen with box seats. Buss wants indisputable success.

I feel bad for Suns fans because they literally hired a guy to be GM because he was the voice of NBA Live and on tv regularly. Not because Sarver is foolish, but because he isn't looking at making the most effective basketball decisions, but rather cares about making business decisions. He can't wait to score one free agent name and a 1st round rookie salary capped player that could be middling or slightly better and generate some false hope of contending that will be dashed on the rocks "luxury tax my ass".

Steve Nash is 100% correct. Pau Gasol changed the west landscape for the next five years. He has to get over it. If he does not like losing why did he sign an extension with Suns. If he wanted to win I am sure lakers would take him for MLE. He is better than any pg trash we have here. Can you imagine Nash in the triangle. It would be a joy to watch the Lakers even more than now.
