I think they'll surprise a lot of people, but they're not gonna be like 04-05...

That's what i'm disappointed in - that we didn't look to add a role-playing defensive guy instead of Griffin or Tucker. I don't even care what position, a perimeter guy or a big.
But like Diesel said, this is a decent roster that might surprise a lot of people.
Now, it could easily surprise them by allowing 200 pointss a game ....

Honestly, I like how this team doesn't have many expectations surrounding it. I think they will play free and loose while bringing rookies and young guys into the fold.

With SSOL our problem was that we didn't have anyone to keep our +/- up while Nash and some of our other starters were on the bench. Rebounding was our second biggest problem.

I mean compare the two rosters:

04-05
PG - Nash/Parker
SG - Johnson/Barbosa
SF - Richardson/Jackson
PF - Marion/Jacobson
C - Stoudemire/Hunter

09-10
PG - Nash/Dragic
SG - Richardson/Barbosa
SF - Hill/Dudley
PF - Frye/Clark
C - Stoudemire/Lopez

looking at the rosters, they're not wildly disparate in terms of talent
What's changed is how much better everyone else is.

Yeah , JJ is just plain better than Jrich, but i keep thinking we could find an athletic wing who plays D and turn him into Marion ... someone in that style anyway, Shawn was pretty special

I'm not religious, but I use this analogy a lot to describe why those old Suns teams were so special.

Nash was the Father
Amare, the Son
Marion: The Holy Spirit

JJ is leagues better than Richardson now, but Barbosa is much better than he was. In terms of scoring we aren't lacking.

Replacing Marion is much tougher, the only hope is that Clark is "who we thought he was" to use a native Arizona quote.
