This is basically the same issue as it was with the Kobe vs Lebron MVP debate two seasons ago, with Pau being in Kobe's situation and Erazem in Lebron's. I'd give it to Teodosic, though.

I think it will depend on the team winning the title.

Isn't the MVP decided before the finals, though?

except unlike Kobe, Pau statistically better than Erazem in every category except assists and steals.

Seriously, Lorbek has been one of the best players in the tournament, for sure in the best starting roster of all teams, but watching Pau against France and Greece I'm sure he will be the MVP unless Teodosic makes his best game against Spain and Serbia wins the tournament. Stats also go for Pau.

Pau Gasol 26,1 min | 18,8 pts | 8,0 reb | 67,1% 2P FG | 1,3 ast | 2,1 blk
E. Lorbek 30,1 min | 17,0 pts | 7,3 reb | 56,8% 2P FG | 2,4 ast | 0,5 blk

Lorbek 2p fg% is amazing, Pau's % is ridiculous, like if he was playing against juniors.

I think the mvp is decided just before the end of the final game. It will depend on the final game.

Just let me be a homer once.

As for the final two games, I hope the Serbs show the Spaniards that Balkans is the home of European basketball.

I don't expect much from Slovenia against Greece. They used up all their strength against Serbia.

Pau is de the MVP by far. He is the best player in this tournament, with the Spanoulis's consent

Erazem Lorbek has to be MVP, despite fouling out today.

No way can Lorbek be the MVP. That is between Pau Gasol and Milos Teodosic. It would be highway robbery if Lorbek got that award.

You again..
It will be Pau 100%, because he will be in winning team, but Erazem should be close 2nd..
Spain can win without Pau, but Slovenija cant without Erazem..

They could... if only they had Smodis to take over as their dominant post player. Granted, they're much more limited and predictable without Lorbek, Smodis or Nesterovic manning the middle.

Again, the MVP award should go to players who put their teams over the top. Lorbek has been Slovenia's savior, true. But he's been pushed to this role because of circumstances. Gasol is, and has always been, Spain's heart and soul. Take him away and it's 2005 all over again. They go from heavily favoured favorites to not even reaching quarter-finals.

So, Pau MVP. Lorbek All-tournament 1st Team.

Agreed,..
Slovenian biggest lack was losing 2 of 3 point guards..
When your team plays without Beno Udrih and Goran Dragič, with only Jaka Lakovič on PG, and reach 3-4th place, you can only be happy..

So, who will be/you would like to be in the Eurobasket 1st team..
3 players are lock if you ask me;
Pau, Erazem and Teodosič..
I would put Parker on PG (competes with Spanoulis, if you ask me)
And Ilyasova on 3..

Parker
Teodosič
Ilyasova
Lorbek
Gasol

I'd go with Teodosic over Parker, and Spanoulis as SG:

Teodosic
Spanoulis
Ilyasova
Lorbek
Gasol

This way, each semifinalist is represented. Ilyasova has had too good a tournament to leave him out. It's no fault of his Turkey didn't advance further.

This is how it should be.

Just for fun, how would you rank the top 3 coaches of the tournament? I'd rank them like this:

1. Ivkovic - no explanation needed
2. Zdovc - his first tournament as a coach, having to use 9, 10-man rotation, no team clearly outplayed him
3. Bauermann - unusual pick, but it's impressive how he made a team full of youngsters and washed up role players like Femmerling this competitive

Not really, some journalist already vote for MVP. For example this one: http://zawszepopierwsze.bloog.pl/id,499 ... caid=68c7d
vote yesterday and his vote goes to Teodosić...

IMO Pau Gasol is easily the real MVP of this tournament.

Agree, but maybe i'd put Rudy instead of Ilyasova.

who cares MVP? the point is that spain will win easy. +20 or more.
and the mvp for gasol no question. 1st in points 1st in blocks 2nd in rebounds playing only 23 min...
theodosic are playing well and will be great but for the moment gasol is way better then anyone in the championship. he is a world superstar

Spanoulis was horrid tonight. Couldn't buy a basket. Sofo was great though.
