Actually Joba's velocity was up. It was 96 at the start of the game but his location was waaay off. Just seemed like he didn't know how to get that guy out. Tell you this much, I still think Joba has better stuff than Hughes but Hughes has better location.

Dr. Detfink wrote:The flaw on the Yankee team is, it heavily depends on two starters to carry the load of 5. Could you imagine the state of the Yanks if Sabbathia can't go 7+ every time he goes out there since July?

Today is a perfect example of that weakness, Joba gets shelled for 7 runs by the second inning while the Red Sox are roasting the O's. Thus, the lead is going to be cut to 5 games.

Then they go to play the Angels in Anaheim...After that series, the Yanks lead could be 3 or less:
1. Pettitte (mon): Angels own his ass.
2. Gaudin: Seriously?
3. AJ Burnett: Again, another tough start for AJ. Can the Yanks offense give him a win?

So yes, you should be legitimately concerned.

I said this weeks ago. the yanks can blow this lead. today the lead will be cut to 5. And as you said, we play the angels and the sox play the royals. Honestly, I think boston easily sweeps that series and we will be lucky to get a game in anahiem. so you are looking at a 3 game lead going into the boston series... Yes, the yanks should worry... Very, very, much!!!

I just pray we take 2 of 3 from the angels and hope the royals get lucky one game...

After the Sox series we have Royals and Tampa to close out the season. 12 left with 5 games ahead still not worried. What's the worst thing that could happen? Get in the postseason as the wildcard? :meditate:
