The Stro Show return?

Post#1 » by Guy986 » Fri Sep 18, 2009 9:12 pm

Stromile Swift, Lorenzen Wright and Jelani McCoy took part in Houston's workouts. Swift played for Houston during the 2005-06 season.

They should have his name next to the definition of bonehead. I'd rather have the 6'5 chuck hayes at PF than the No-show

injuries I guess...with our track record I guess they think it'll be better to have a big that's been in the system since camp to step in for our next big injury. =/

scola/andersen
landry/hayes/pops
dorsey/cook

unless of corse dorsey isnt ready, cook doesnt play unless there's a crapload of injuries, and hayes can barely get 5-10min, those are the only reasons there should be adding another big. but cmon, are they being seriouis? dorsey and hayes could split the backup center minutes, along w/ scola. landry plays backup pf all the time, pops helps out in both positions whenever.

another big would mean another player is gonna be cut or something...james white? or buyout cook, cuz he already extended his contract. is pops even on the roster or just a training camp player?

Not only on-court injuries, but we know Chuck Hayes is accident prone. Knowing his luck, he'll get struck by lightning. Don't get me started on Landry's off-court misfortunes...

Roxfashoballin,
Hayes is the only established defensive big the Rockets have. He's going to get plenty of minutes.
And Andersen is going to help him get the minutes.

The whole world knows Chuck is not an offensive threat. But what happens when Chuck pops up to FT line to set a screen for McGrady/Brooks/Lowry? Chuck's screens are nasty and no gd is going to fight thru 'em,leaving Chuck's man in a bit of a quandry. If he stays back in paint the Rocket player will have a wide open FT jumper. Most likely he will jump out on the Rocket. Meanwhile Andersen has drug his man outside leaving the lane wide open for a Ariza/Budinger backdoor cut. The Rocket player will be looking at an array of options-open jumper, open lane to drive, open Andersen for jumper, open Ariza/Battier/Budinger for corner 3,cutting Ariza/Budinger at rim,Hayes rolling. And when a shot goes up the other teams bigs have been dragged away from paint and Rockets have rolling Chuck and cutting Ariza/Budinger w/good chance at offensive rebounds. Using Chuck's ability to set crushing screens and his inability to shoot will result in either open 15' jumpers for Rockets who CAN shoot,or force the other team to open up the lane. A little basketball jujitsu.

Mensa-Bonsu is insurance in case Dorsey flops before season starts or the team has to trade Landry to fill another need. But if M-B plays pretty close to Dorsey,I wouldn't be suprised to see Dorsey moved for a future pick or packaged w/Cook for some MLE-type back-up C.

lol Stro days.... The dude would get a step on his defender then immediately palm the ball and start taking his approach for a dunk starting at the three point line.

lol JVG expected Stro to play basketball, he couldn't do that.

If the Stro Show couldn't understand JVG's offense consisted of 2 plays then he's going to struggle mightily with Adelman's motion offense.
