WR Waiver Question

Post#1 » by Wasp » Mon Sep 21, 2009 5:06 pm

So, my WR's have been underperforming and/or injured and I'm getting kinda fed up. Here are my WR's now in a 9 man 3 WR league:

Wes Welker
Braylon Edwards
Chris Henry
Eddie Royal

On waiver wire, there are a couple of noteworthy players who are either savvy vets or emerging players:

Mario Manningham
Johnny Knox
Isaac Bruce
Mushin Muhammed
Brandon Stokely
Chansi Stuckey

My question is, should I drop one or more of my current WR's for some waiver pickups? If so, which guy? I'm currently leaning toward dropping Royal for Manningham. Thanks.

EDIT: I can also drop RB Ricky Williams (I know, I know) from my bench to add another WR.

I would keep all 4 of your WR's. You must only start 2 WR's or something to not carry at least 5. Depending on who your other RB's are I would consider dropping someone else for Mario, Knox, or Chansey. Mario just had a monster game and could be very valuable going forward. Bruce just got hurt this week and you don't need two DEN WR's.

I am considering dropping Chaz Shilens for Johnny Knox in my PPR league, seing that the Raiders passing game is a joke. All of your other waiver WR's are on people's teams in my league, Knox being the only one that isn't. Thoughts?

Similar problem. All the guys mentioned, plus Burleson and the Giants' Smith are sitting on my waiver wire. My WRs are Smith, Bowe, Ward, Walter and A. Gonzalez. Because of my depth, and because it's a keeper league (keep 5 guys each year), I was going to wait out Gonzo, but I'm wondering if I should consider dropping him or Watler for one of those guys on the WW.

The league is weird because we start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR with a TE, K and DE/ST slot but only have 5 reserves. Because of that, you need to do a lot of waiver work to make sure you avoid bad matchups and bye weeks.

I think I'm going to drop Ricky Williams for Manningham.

Knox or Schillens from here on out, 1 PPR league?

Knox, and it's not even close. Knox has a QB who's capable of throwing the football through a hula hoop from 10 feet away; Schilens does not.

I missed out on the Manningham sweepstakes so I'm on to plan B.
Similar to above, Knox or Sims-Walker? No PPR. I'm leaning towards Walker because he's looking like the number 2 guy out in Jacksonville and with that D the Jags are going be behind a lot.

Yeah, I like Walker. Knox could be the new Eddie Royal, or he could fall back to option #5 behind Hester, Bennett, Olsen and Forte. Hard to say.

I missed out on Manningham as well, but I got Steve Smith(Giants, obviously).

I've made a bunch of WR moves. I dropped Eddie Royal for Johnny Knox. Looking at this week's matchup for me with Welker still questionable and Henry banged up vs. PIT (not a good look), I dropped Ricky Williams for Chansi Stuckey because of my depth at RB. My roster for this week looks like this:

QB Aaron Rogers
RB SJax
RB Slaton
WR Braylon Edwards
WR Johnny Knox
WR Chansi Stuckey
TE Shockey
K Akers
D/ST Philly

Bench
QB Carson Palmer
RB Moreno
WR Welker (hurt)
WR Henry (hurt)
D/ST Washington

Look ok?

EDIT: I will put Welker in if he is ready @ gametime, not sure who I'd sub him in for though...

Perhaps, although I have no faith in Royal at all without Cutler feeding him the ball. Denver looks a mess right now, and it bothers me that Stokely is outperforming both Royal and Marshall, plus I have no faith in Orton at all. I figured it was worth dropping Royal for his bizarro CHI version (Knox) and picking up Stuckey (who I think will be a nice target for Sanchez this year).

I took a flyer on Royal based on his performance last year, but Cutler is >> Orton and I think I can get better production from the other WR's I picked up.

More value from here on out in a PPR league (who should I pick up): Massaquoi or Collie?
