2010 Keeper League...Finals Week!

Post#1 » by KingInExile » Mon Sep 21, 2009 3:11 pm

OK...here are the settings and rules used from last year. Ten team, 4-player keeper league in a head-to-head format.

Draft Type: off-line (conducted on the board)
Max Teams: 10
Scoring Type: Head-to-Head
Max Moves: 30 during regular season plus 2/week during playoffs
Max Trades: No maximum
Trade Reject Time: 2 days
Trade End Date: TBA (will be the last possible day yahoo offers)
Waiver Time: 2 days
Can't Cut List Provider: None
Trade Review: League Votes
Post Draft Players: Follow Waiver Rules
Weekly Deadline: Daily - Tomorrow
Start Scoring on: Week 1
Roster Positions: (14) PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C, 3-Util, 4-BN
Stat Categories: FG%, FT%, 3PTM, PTS, REB, AST, ST, BLK, TO

Some of the General League Rules:

The basic rule here is that this league is just for fun. No need to take anything here seriously and certainly no need for any personal shots at anyone. We’ve never really had much of a problem with this in the past and there’s no reason to expect that to change. However, there are a couple of housekeeping things that we need to keep in mind during the season.

1. All owners are expected to remain active throughout the season. If you are going to be away for an extended period of time, make sure you at least pre-set your roster to keep positions active. I have the ability to alter your roster on a day by day basis in the case of an emergency (can only be done a day in advance).
2. Please do not debate trades until after they are officially accepted. The league will vote on trades and, if you don’t think it is a good trade, you can vote to veto the trade. But please do not lobby people to vote one way or the other.
3. If you make an error with your roster (accidentally drop someone or pick up the wrong player) send me a PM as soon as possible. I will correct the problem and will reset your moves so you won’t be penalized for the mistake.

New for this year, we have more control over playoff setting, including the number of teams and when the playoffs start. Before I reopen the league on Yahoo there needs to be a decision made about what playoff format we want. Here are the options:

1. None
2. Weeks 22 & 23 (4 teams & 4 in consolation)
3. Weeks 23 & 24 (4 teams & 4 in consolation
4. Weeks 21, 22, & 23 (6 teams & no consolation)
5. Weeks 22, 23, & 24 (6 teams & no consolation)
6. Weeks 21, 22, & 23 (8 teams & no consolation)
7. Weeks 22, 23, & 24 (8 teams & no consolation)

I need an consensus answer by Friday on this question. Also, I want to make sure that there is enough agreement on this being the format for this year and if any changes are made they won't be made until next year...I need this answer by Friday as well. (Note, if changes are going to be made for next year, we need to know what those changes are going to be so people can draft accordingly).

I like option 4... the first two spots get BYE, and the rest duke it out... no consolation, cos it really doesn't make sense when we have a random draft order after the first 3 picks.

I like options 3,4, or 5. I prefer option 3, but the other two are fine with me, and next season (2011) I think we're doing 5 keepers and using this season in preparation for that because not everyone has 5 guys they want to keep for this season.

I'm on a fence on whether or not if I'm going to do this again this year. I will give an update if I want out or anything though.

I like the options where the most people are playing for something at the end. I also like ending a week earlier so that when a team rests its star player for their last game or two it doesn't affect your fantasy team.

So 2 and 6 fit the bill.

I'll take 6 over 2. 4&5 are no good to me.

If it's going to be a keeper league we need to draft in reverse order of standings.

Since I haven't weighed in yet, I will go on record as saying that I like option 6.

So far there is 1 vote for option 4, 1 for option 5, one for option 3 that would accept 4 or 5 and 2 for option 6. We need to hear from the others soon!

Sorry I have not been around much...I've been really busy lately.

I will get the league set up tomorrow (need to get to bed soon). As for the draft, how about if we plan on starting the draft next weekend? Since I haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise, the idea is that we keep 4 again this year with the top 3 last year getting the first three picks...but next year we will transition to 5 with some other incentive for winning other than top people getting the top picks?

I'm registered and ready to go! The Wolf Pack is pretty hungry this season.

Drafting next weekend sounds good to me.

We could probably delay the draft if we need to. We just need to make sure we're efficient at making picks. We should still have enough time though IMO if we put it off a week.

BTW...I'm going to be away for work the next couple of days. I won't be able to check in again until late Tuesday.

I'll still check. I just might be slower at getting to my iphone or computer than usual. You sure you don;'t want me to go reverse draft order(loser -> winner) with a 5 keeper league, giving me the last pick?

Just posing a question...

With some added interest from others KIE, should we open up the league to make it a 12 teamer? Make it a little more competitive.

Maybe do an 'expansion draft' where we get to protect our top 4 players, and the two additional teams can pick their top 4(or 5 if we go that way) from our rosters - but can only pick one player from each team. If a player gets picked off your team, the remaining players gets locked. That way we can adjust who we choose as 'keepers' after seeing who they picked.

Thoughts?

if we expand we start new, and we take away one roster spot.
