Injury Report Thread: Week 2/At STL

Post#1 » by JHSFIVE » Tue Sep 22, 2009 1:06 pm

Just an idea but i figured we have a thread that talks about significant injuries, thoughts and any updating news on those injuries.

Here goes:

16SEP09
Packers SS Atari Bigby (knee) isn't expected back for "about a month."

21SEP09
Packers safety Nick Collins suffered a clavicle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Bengals and will be evaluated Wednesday.

21SEP09
Coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that the Packers are preparing to be without LT Chad Clifton (ankle) in Week 3.

These 3 seem unIikly to play this week but we should be ok. I know we can't take any game for granted but this STL game should be a wrap...

I hate to say it but looking ahead but, barring some miraculous recovery it seems most logical to sit these guys for minny giving them all the way through the bye to get right.

I don't have anything on Raji or Bjackson.

The bye is coming at a good time for us this year. Just get into the bye at 2-2, get everyone but Bigby ready to go after the bye week, and then lets take advantage of a very favorable schedule weeks 5-11.

It's safe to say cutting Smith was a mistake at this point though. They said they cut Smith and traded for Martin because Martin is a better special teams player. Well, that's great, but how about on the field?

This week is a must win though. As much as I want us to, I don't see us going into Minny and winning right now. Cannot start 1-3.

I still think drafting Javon Walker instead of Ed Reed was a bigger mistake, but then Ed Reed hasn't been playing that well so far this season either.

Umm, you know what I meant. If I had the choice of a better starting safety or a better ST player, I'm taking the better starting safety. We will see that shortly if Collins is also out multiple weeks.

It is very troubling that we kept a lot of guys because their special teams ability and then our special teams got absolutely dominated against the Bengals.

That MUST improve.

The Baltimore coach had high praise for Martin at safety, so maybe he'll get some PT if he's up to speed on the D.

Not that Bush or Rouse did much of anything well, but I HATE putting Woodson over the slot on third downs and in nickel. Whatever advantage we gain there we lose by having Tramon Williams cover the other team's #1 on the outside. Ocho feasted on Tramon Williams every time the Bengals needed to convert.

Looks like Jason Smith won't be playing against us.

Good news on BJackson.... DWynn on the field is never a good thing.

23SEP09
Packers RB Brandon Jackson (ankle) returned to practice Wednesday.

His status remains uncertain for Week 3 against the Rams. DeShawn Wynn, filling in for Jackson on third downs, has just four touches for 16 total yards in the first two games.

The latest:

Injury report from Packers: S Atari Bigby (knee, out), LT Chad Clifton (ankle, did not participate), S Nick Collins (chest, limited participation), K Mason Crosby (abdominal, limited), FB Korey Hall (shoulder/concussion, limited), RB Brandon Jackson (ankle, limited participation), LB Aaron Kampman (hand, full participation), DL B.J. Raji (ankle, full participation).

* Hopeful on Collins? Coach MM "I think Nick Collins is going to do everything he can to play." Anticipate he'll play, but the week will answer that.

* On Kampman: Bruised hand. Wore cast to protect it.

* Clifton: Going to be a couple of weeks. Expect him to miss this week's game and next week's at Minnesota. Will readdress at the bye.

* On Raji: Need to see him respond three straight days. As excited as he is to see him play

* On Jackson: Practiced today. Curious to see how he feels tomorrow.

Via Bedard Twitter:

Packers RB Brandon Jackson (ankle) was held out of Thursday's practice after experiencing a setback during jog-throughs.

Jackson will likely be kept out of the lineup for a third straight week, with DeShawn Wynn handling third-down duties.

Ugh!

That sucks about Jackson, but I want to see Wynn out there in some shotty sets.

I want to see Wynn get more playing time, period. Grant needs to be pushed, especially after that inexcusable fumble.

We suck at RB right now. Grant is average, Wynn is below average, Jackson can't stay healthy.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I don't think we "suck". Grant isn't anything special, but we just can't block up front right now.
