If it wasn't a tad obvious already, here are some quotes courtesy of anonymous Blue Jays via DJF blog about Alex Rios.

• "He's not a winning-type player. He's a guy who just doesn't have that burning desire to win, or be great."

• "He was a guy who just didn't go after it. He'd be sleeping in his locker 10 minutes before he had to go out on the field. And not just once."

• "He wasn't the same player after he got that [seven-year] contract. It sure seemed like he was a lot more motivated when he was looking for a contract than he was since he got the contract."

LOL. One of those quotes has to belong to Doc. I could even see Aaron Hill saying something like that.

How is this even possible?

22 games and 78 at bats later: 1 HR, 3 RBIs, 1/21 BB/K, .154/.163/.244/.406

I doubt Halladay would say anything like that to the media. He usually keeps his thoughts to himself. Hill was definitely a possibility...Brian Tallet also speaks his mind a lot.

Lol at people who were pissed we let Rios go for nothing. Another 0-4 today with 2Ks. Sox fans already starting to eat him up. Have fun with him for the next few years!

Its pretty crazy how horrible he has been. Scary that even being let go for nothing did not wake him up. At least he is set for life.

Have to admit, I didn't see this coming. I thought Rios would be better after the move...a .144 BA, .222 SLG% and incredible fields of suck were not what I'd expected from him, not by any stretch.

I too expected Rios to be motivated after being dumped for nothing. Wow. So much talent but he seems to be in tank mode right now. I still expect Alex to put up some good seasons in the next few years, but it looks like he's never going to be the type of player many expected him to be.

Still would have been nice to get something for him though.

I don't know if any of these quotes are real, but I'm always extremely skeptical when a batch of purportedly real quotes from members of a team all get leaked at once like this. It just strikes me as a bull manufacture a certain (usually negative) sentiment about player X. I wouldn't be all that surprised if some of these turned out to be accurate representation of some players' feelings, but frankly I would be quite surprised if they all turned out to be real quotes from actual former teammates of Rios. These unsourced 'leaks' frankly just stink to me, and I never take them too seriously.

I expect him to bounce back next year as well, but it seems as if getting dumped has destroyed his always-shaky confidence; I've only watched him play twice since the trade, but in those games his swing was a complete mess...tonne of upper body movement, a loopy (and late) kinda uppercut. Not pretty. And the fans in Chicago are a little less forgiving than they were in Toronto.

Maybe he'll go the way of Jose Cruz after he left the Jays....

We were at a charity walk today and won a raffle price. A signed Alex Rios jersey. haha I have no idea what to do with it.

Sell it for as much as you can get, the exact opposite of what the team did.

I'm beginning to think Rios just doesn't care anymore. How else could he be hitting like Tony Pena Jr?
