I was pointing out that Foye is more similar to Arenas than he is to Hughes. Are you disagreeing with that?
And for the record, he will be playing some pg this year.

I never said I'm agreeing with that, I just think a poor man's Arenas doesn't tell the full story.

I also didn't say that the Wizards would never play him at point, I was just saying that it's not something he has the ability to do at an NBA level. They can play him at center if they want, that doesn't mean he can actually play center.

He is closer to a poor mans Arenas that.. can't handle full playing pg for long periods, was drafted in the first round instead of the 2nd, does not have a blog on nba.com, is not nicknamed agent zero, and didn't play college ball for Arizona than he is to Hughes.

Point still being that he is closer to Arenas than he is to Hughes.

You said he was a broke mans Arenas, and made it seem like he's a disaster who couldn't possibly play the point. I don't agree with that. Foye is better than 7 out of 10 backup point guards in the NBA any way you cut it. He's a quality 6th man combo guard who wasn't used right in this system. With Flip, someone who is quite good at covering up a guards faults, coaching the team I think they will be fine. Flip likes to move the ball around and hit an open jump shot, Foye and Miller should be great cogs in that offense. Foye gets way too much grief in Minnesota. He's an above average NBA player that was traded for a superstar. He's also a better than average #7 pick. I think Washington is going to love having him coming off the bench and as injury insurance for Agent Zero.

OK, maybe I made him sound worse than he is, but as far as how he has panned out as being a POINT GUARD, I would have a hard time saying he's anything better than "poor" in that category. I'd say he's a shooting guard that has shown flashes of being able to play combo/point guard. So often when he runs the point he just dribbles the ball up the court and then just picks up his dribble. He's shown rare flashes of combo/point ability like his 14 assist game against Detroit last year, but overall has shown a minimal ability to run the point. His best basketball came when he played off the ball. We tried to force him to be a PG due to his height, but he's just not a point guard. I don't mean to rip on him by saying that, but he's not a point guard and really I'd call him a shooting guard before I'd say combo guard. Maybe with Flip's tutelage he will be able to run the point for 10+ minutes a night on a regular basis (and I hope he DOES, I have NO reason to be upset with him). Flip will be the best PG coach he's had in the NBA and he did help Chauncey come into his own as a PG, so maybe it comes together in Washington, but he just hasn't shown the ability to run point in Minnesota.

As it stands now Randy Foye is a:
6'4" streaky jump shooting SG who shot 40.7% from the field last season and shot 36 more 3 pointers than free throws

Now that does just highlight his negative characteristics, so to be fair he is a good 3pt shooter, used to attack the basket aggressively (pre-injury), and is a decent athlete.

IF Flip can help him learn some semblance of PG ability or IF he starts attacking the basket again, he could be a very useful player. I think that there is a pretty decent chance one or both of those things happen, and then he could be good player, but if he plays like he did last season, I won't miss him that much.

I was (and am) a big fan of Foye, but he has some undeniable holes in his game that need addressing. I'm sorry if I once again am sounding like a Foye hater, I really do like him, I'm just clarifying why I said what I did about him.

Why I responded the first time was becasue you didn't seem to get that I was saying Foye plays more like Arenas than Hughes. I guess I shouldn't have said poor man's Arenas since that kind of implies their games are very similar but Foye is just a lesser player. Hughes is known for his defense. That alone makes him and Foye very different players, hence Foye being closer to Arenas.
