Post#1 » by Draino » Mon Sep 7, 2009 11:53 pm

Serbia upset world champion Spain 66-57 Monday on the opening day of the European basketball championship.

"I think tonight my team absolutely deserved this victory," coach Duzan Ivkovic said. "We won with extremely great defense."

what do you guys think, as a SERB i am proud that my these guys are finally playing like they should and that they ARE one of the top 4 countries in the world, no matter what anyone says... USA, Argentina, Spain, Serbia... (no particular order)

Serbia? A top 4 country? Its more like Greece. Or even Lithuania. the only reason Spain lost is because they couldnt hit anything. I assume your watching the EuroBasket? Who do you think will win? My favorite is Greece or Spain. It would be lithuanian but wih Siskauskas and Runi gone I doubt they win anything. I also look at Slovenia as an outside chance to win.

who do i think will win... i just said it... Serbia... and they are better than greece and lithuania, they had a few years REBUILDING and finding the right team, since the whole Serbia split up again, and a lot of players stopped playing for the national team, IF EVERYONE PLAYED THAT SHOULD THEY WOULD BE TOP 2 NO QUESTION, but they are in a mode where they are building a squad that will be very solid and be able to compete for medals throughout competitions in upcoming years

It's not NBA basketball, hence why it's boring. It has nothing to do with Serbia. I know you're Serbian and follow Serbia and whatever league they play in, but the vast majority of us don't care, and as far as I'm concerned, USA>World (at least when it comes to hoops).

I appreciate your efforts in trying to get some life into this board though!

P.S. There's an International B-ball forum here viewforum.php?f=5 in case you didn't know. There's even a thread on the Serbian national team.

yea there is a Minnesota Timberwolves forum on this website as well but yet Ricky Rubio comes up quite often on the Sacramento Kings forum... so yea, maybe i don't feel like going to other boards and like posting on the kings board only

and saying USA>World in basketball and you don't care about anyone else is like saying your favorite team is the best in a sport and you don't care about anyone else, competition maybe...

^^^ Barely beating a Slovenia team without one of its best players throughout Eurobasket (Dragic).

Yeah, nice payback.

whats surprising about the Serbia team is that their average age is like 24 or something... they are a very young team, and getting a silver medal is great for them! If they keep the same core and let them grow, they might be a top contender every championship.
