Green Bay/St. Louis Pregame Talk

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Wed Sep 23, 2009 3:19 pm

Albert Pujols says the Packers who have long hair are disrespecting the game.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

About 30,000 Packer fans expected to be there.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I do not know if I am going a little to far with this statement, but if we lose to the Rams, which I believe to be the worst team in the league, than I am giving up on our playoff hopes. Any word yet on if Raji is playing? We are going to need him to contain Jackson.

Collins, Jackson and Raji all practiced today. I think we're really missing Jackson.

I'd love to see Jackson get some 1st/2nd down snaps.

I'd also love it if Martin is up to speed and he and Collins can be the safeties.

Kampman's right hand in a club cast, but practiced. Reason unknown.

Clifton didn't practice today, no surprise.

I've got a sneaking suspicion that Clifton has played his last game as a packer. They were talking about the play where he got hurt on the game yesterday and how sometimes you know a guy is done based on his reaction to an injury. Chad looked as if it was very serious and kept pounding his fist into the turf.

Clifton definitely won't be back next year.

I expect nothing less than the Packers to dominate the worst team in the NFL. I want to see the team I saw in preseason games one to three and not the one I saw the last two weeks.

Gotta keep Steven Jackson under check, definitely can't have those huge holes that were there in week 2. And hopefully no career day's for any of the Rams d-line.

Collins (chest, lim), Crosby (abdominal, lim), Hall (shoulder/conc, lim), Jackson (ankle, limited), Kampman (hand, full), Raji (ankle, full)

Kampman hand is a bruise. Clifton out until after bye week, ankle. They expect Collins to start and won't say who will start along side him, Bush or Martin. I think that means that most likely Martin will get the majority of snaps.

Whether it's through the draft, free agents and/or trades our number 1 priority next offseason is our offensive line.

McCarthy to critics: 'Nothing's going to change..OK?'
By Greg A. Bedard of the Journal Sentinel
Sept. 23, 2009 3:06 p.m.

Green Bay - Packers coach Mike McCarthy, at least to the media, doesn't often give a pep talk. But he gave one to close his press conference today.

It seemed like it was aimed at critics of the team that feel the Packers need to change some things to right the ship headed into Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.

Here's what he said when asked if he has confidence his offensive linemen can rise to the challenge after two sub-par games:

Oh, they're going to rise to the challenge. And they need to. And we all do, starting with me. We're going down there to play football the way we're supposed to play football, OK? We didn't play very good last week. And that's last week. We're 1-1 and we're excited about this opportunity in St. Louis. So we're going to line up and play just the way we did every day, nothing's going to change, we're not changing any plays, any practice schedules, any linemen, any safeties, OK? So we're going down to St. Louis to win a game and we're going to play our type of football. That's our approach.

With that, McCarthy waited a beat, said, "Thank you," and walked away from the podium.

He is right in a way. Its pointless to talk about it. They need to play better and they know it. If they don't, jobs are on the line for coaches, players, and probably the GM.

They don't need to make a bunch of crazy, drastic decisions. They don't need to bench a bunch of people, or completely change how they practice or gameplan. They all need to do their jobs better and show up on Sunday a kick some butt like they have in the past.
