What's wrong with McCants?

Post#1 » by Guy986 » Fri Sep 25, 2009 3:06 am

The guy just signed a non guarenteed contract with the Rockets. He has to compete against 5 or 6 other guys with non guarneenteed deal just to make the roster. Why didn't the Kings bring him back? Not even for a minimum contract?? I remember he was quite a potent offensive threat when he was with the Wolves. What happened to him?

You can mostly look at his game logs. The guy was an absolute chucker with no basketball IQ. Sure he was talented, and would have a great game every once in a while--but as the season wore on, those were fewer and farther between.

He may be talented but McCants is the definition of a ball stopper. Once the ball gets to his hands, most of the time the ball goes up.

So McCants is basically a Von Wafer clone. I see why he chose to sign a non guaranteed with the Rockets now.

Yeah, pretty much. But I think McCants is the better scorer though.

Rashad McCants chooses to go his own way that is why. I think he feels he's better than he is and doesn't care to buy into the team concept. If Adelman can't get the most out of him there is NO HOPE for the guy.

I'm thinking the rumors of attitude problems have hurt his stock a bit. Both May and McCants have the chance to be steals at min. contract level.

The Kings are just too stocked at the 1-2-3. Evans, Martin, Nocioni, and Garcia are all capable of putting up near 15pts, plus JT and Hawes have to get 15 touches. Not enough touches to sign McCants.

I think I would take "rumors of" out of that sentence.

But you're right in that he could potentially be a steal, but I'd doubt it. He was playing for a contract in his stint with the Kings and didn't really show any signs of fixing his problems.
