And it begins... Alston wants out.

Alston Reportedly Wants Out

Camp doesn’t start for another four days, but Rafer Alston is already unhappy with his role. ESPN 1050’s Jon Rothstein quotes a source who says that Alston “can’t play in a contract year in New Jersey behind Devin Harris and Keyon Dooling.” The veteran point guard would rather be in New York or Miami, the source says.

 at those who thought Alston would be fine with the limited role..

Another source
Alston sees himself with Knicks or Heat

New Jersey Nets guard Rafer Alston expects to start the NBA regular season with either the New York Knicks or the Miami Heat, according to a source close to the situation.

"New York and Miami are the top two teams on Rafer's list," said the source. "He can't play in a contract year in New Jersey behind Devin Harris and Keyon Dooling."

While the Knicks offer an opportunity for Alston to play in his hometown, the chance to play with Dwyane Wade and Miami might be more likely and attractive.

"(Dwyane) Wade loves Rafer," the source said
This is expected that alston will ask out.

Are the Nets going to trade him or buy out his contract?

For Miami, they hope alston contract will be waive or bought out.

I still see a trade, but for all I care, buy him out...

I expected this to happen, lol. Best case scenario for Nets is to buy him out at a reasonable price.

Wasn't expecting this but Rafer is going to get BODIED by Rod Thorn.

If he keeps this up Thorn might as well Jamal Tinsley his ass and force Alston into taking a large buyout. Dude can't afford to not play for a year he's gotta feed his family.

I was expecting this to happen mid season near the deadline but whatever, trade him now I really can care less.

It really all depends on how Dooling is feeling if he's ok by the time season starts trade Alston's primadona ass if he isnt than keep him till Dooling is back.

Btw dont take this as a set in stone thing it seems to me like just some made up gossip.

T.Will can also man the 3rd string PG. Try to pry away a couple of second rounders when we trade him.

Btw, VC4pres did you make that sig yourself? It is absolutely made of win.

I doubt Miami would trade Wright because their main concern is keeping Wade happy so he doesnt bolt next year. That's why they acquired Qrich. Only way I see Alston going to miami is via buy out...

Nope!
Haslem is more valubale to the Heat than what Alston will provide.

Miami rather have Haslem at PF. If Miami adds Alston, its because they want to add depth at PG. Chalmers is our starter.

Heat will patiently wait on Alston's buy out if they can't get a favorable deal.

No need to cater to him right now. Hold on to him until the deadline because a team could get desperate and need a guy like alston. Maybe a 1st rounder could be in works then. The Knicks or Heat will not give that up now. If nothing comes up then buy him out.

I agree with The Rock but I wouldnt wait until the trade deadline. We have simmons and battie for that.

He will be playing back up to Harris until Dooling is fully recovered. So we have a few games to shop him. I dont think we should wait to the deadline. I would rather avoid any issues with chemistry and these young guys.
