I know this rivalry gets heated and red sox fans can be irritating, but I really hope lester is OK. That was a shot he took off the knee from melky hit ball. this guy fought his way, all the way back from cancer to be a fine pitcher, I hope he is OK.. I really do..... that hit him right on the knee... wow....

Damnit A-Rod, you should have hit that HR further!

Regardless of whether they can get another big inning off Lester, they have him at 78 pitches with 1 out in the 3rd inning. A-Rod is swinging the bat well, Jeter, Cano, etc. Hopefully Yanks can take this and Joba can pitch well to get his confidence up before the playoffs start. LETS GO JOBA!

EDIT: Didn't notice Lester was taken out because he got hurt. Hopefully by the playoffs he's ready to go.

And its about time Joba had the surgery done to remove his head from his ass! None of this babying crap. Go out there and define who you are.

he pitched well, with the exception of the two homers. The one to martinez was legit, the one to big fatty was a joke. He was late on the fastball and somehow muscled it over the left field wall.. go figure...

As much as I hate the Red Sox, I never wish injury on any of their players. It's called Karma. Magic # 3

Did I wish an injury? NO.

I said I wouldn't MISS Lester (see stats against Yankees). *roll eyes*

Hating the Red Sox is not in the same context as booing the Special Olympics. Let's not Get CRAZY. It's OK to boo the fu*k out of your mortal enemies. Any Yankee fan whose gone to a Fenway game didn't get any slack when Pedro purposely took Yankee players out of the game.

Then again, after reading the pathetic Knicks forum...good lord, it's like AA for Kool-aid "We're going to do better this year guys..." I can kind of understand why some New York fans on this forum sound like an abused ex-wife.

Great win. Pretty much solidifies home field throughout the playoffs, which could come in huge since the Yanks have the best home record in the league.

A few notes from last night's game as we look towards today's game:

1. Notice, since Mark Teixiera has taken the Yanks on his back A-Rod has been quietly clutch against the Red Sox. Now, the spotlight is off Alex I think he can focus.

2. Marte sucks. For a lefty specialist, he specializes in sucking. I'd rather have Phil Coke in.

3. The media is going nuts about CC's post season numbers. True, they aren't sexy but last night's win put the Yanks in position where they can rest CC Sabbathia and focus on how to lay out Burnett, Joba, and Pettitte.

Always good thing to have some momentum going into the post season.

It was hard to stomach watching the YAnkees go 1-15 with RISP and 11 LOB. Dice-K looked like Greg Maddux but luckily CC Sabbathia was up to the task. I'm glad the Yankees are wisely giving him extra rest.

So far, this late season tune up for the post season is going the Yanks way. They look ready.

How does Papelbon think of Wagner now? lol. Here's a guy who was opposed to signing Wagner. Wagner comes in, starts that **** he did in New York walking first batter...then loads the bases. Talk about ouch.

C.C. has been absolutely tremendous this year. 230 innings to a 3.21 ERA.... damn.

A week ago people were complaining that we were limping to the playoffs, now what? Burnetts pitching better, Joba looks like he can give us 2 postseason starts and not hurt us, CC is pitching better than anybody in baseball, ARod is hot, etc. It gets quiet around here when there is nothing to complain about.

Not even a week ago. 5 days ago people were talking about "our flaws", how the red sox were gonna catch up to us and that we'd be lucky to win 2 games combined vs the redsox and Angels.

But yeah, I don't here people talk about the Red sox issues. Lets see:

They have a HUGE problem at Catcher. On one hand you have Varitek that can't hit AT ALL OR throw runners out, then you have Victor Martinez who CAN hit but sucks defensively and is inept at throwing runners out as well, add that to the fact that Red Sox pitchers(Beckett especially) feel more comfortable with Varitek instead of Martinez.

So either you have a .120 hitter with a noodle arm or you downgrade the comfort level of your aces by using Martinez.

Another issue is SP depth. Sure the yankees are lacking in this area but so are the red sox. You have Beckett and Lester but who else??? Buchholz is still inexperienced and has never pitched in a big spot. Matsuzaka is coming on nicely but you still can't trust him completely. He walks a lot of batters and he remainsvery hittable. Wakefield is done, at least for this season anyways..

I still roll my eyes whenever I think of Kruk's "article".. How does that guy even have a job?

Remember when people here said CC wasn't a "true ace" nor worth the money spent? Let's all point & laugh at them. First season in New York & he's on the verge of winning 20 games. The man is an absolute stud. Shame on those who called him a bust after 4 starts this season.
