slow news day, might as well throw it up.

http://my.lakers.com/blogs/2009/09/28/l ... mp-roster/

The Los Angeles Lakers have signed forwards Tony Gaffney, David Monds, Mickael Gelebale and Michael Fey, as announced (on Monday). Per team policy, terms of the agreements were not released.

Gaffney, an undrafted forward out of Massachusetts, finished his senior year at UMASS averaging a double-double with 11.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Monds, a 6-9 forward out of Oklahoma State, was a member of the Lakers 2009 summer league squad where he scored 14.0 points and pulled down 5.2 rebounds in five games. Gelabale, a 6-7 forward from France, finished the 2008-09 season as a member of the Los Angeles D-Fenders where he averaged 16.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in six games played. Fey, a 7-0 forward/center out of UCLA, played all four seasons at UCLA where he averaged 5.2 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 54.6% from the field.

The Lakers training camp roster now stands at 17 players.

Fey is garbage..........rode pine in Westwood. All this is for those guys is a badge of honor for kicking it with a female and hoping to score by saying, " Yeah I was in the Laker camp this year, they might be calling me back to join their D-League team soon".

Hey, I'm curious, but D-League is actually a decent living right? Or am I wrong?

Anyways, when I first read that 7 footer, I thought oh goody. But if he really is that bad, I like Mbenga.

lets see... we have no questions regarding any position except the PG spot
Yet, No PG on that list. Wow... is Mitch really dat confident in Brown and Farmar?... (especially Farmar and his wackness lately). Also, Lakers must be taking S.Brown seriously then. The guy is here to stay.

Also, maybe they are counting on Farmar's contract yr productivity (the contract yr thing has paid off for the team lately w/ turiaf, ariza, sasha, walton, etc).

I think it would have been nice to bring in some underrated pg floating around out there.

I have a couple of college friends currently in the d-league or overseas and yes it is a decent living. In fact its a pretty good living. I would have no problem at all spending my career doing either one if I was good enough that is.

What about Jaric, I see he's available? Don't know who else is out there.

no way Jaric agrees to a lousy training camp invite. Wont happen. and we don't have the money to sign him for a yr contract. so there's no point.

If LO is going to see some minutes at pg, then we might just be fine with that position. Maybe that's the thinking going on in Phil and Mitch's heads.

Btw ...I really think the Frenchman could take up the "Ariza role". I'm looking forward to him making the team even if it's as a 15th man. If he makes the team, Sasha and Ammo automatically get better over the course of the 'regular' season. They will have to.
