Romel Beck to replace Rashad McCants

Short on healthy bodies to play the wing positions in training camp, the Rockets reached agreement with Romel Beck, a 6-8 guard/forward who has starred with the Mexican National team.

Beck, 27, played at UNLV and professionally in Italy before a stint in the Mexican League. He spent one season in the NBA Development League and played with the San Antonio Spurs summer league team.

The Rockets began camp short-handed after the team chose not to sign Rashad McCants because of an abdominal injury.

Beck has the worst handles I've ever seen from a guard. He cannot dribble with his left hand at all.

Romel Beck Castro!!!

I soooooo wanted the Mavericks to sign this guy last year. I watched all the Mexican games (FIBA iirc) and before he played the US I was salivating on the Kobe-Castro matchup. He got in Kobe's head on both ends of the court. The dude reminds me of Kevin Martin in style and physical shape.

Sucks that my team did not sign him.
