Trade Joe?
$60M is a respectable offer. since Joe has turned it down, i don't think it would be inappropriate to consider some trades:
DAL: Joe for Josh Howard and Matt Carroll
SAS: Joe for Richard Jefferson and Roger Mason
WAS: Joe for Caron Butler and Randy Foye

Re: Trade Joe?
I don't think the Hawks would consider trading Joe to an Eastern team so take Washington off the list. The Mavs and Spurs offers are respectable, but they strengthen the 3 spot, an area where we aren't hurting too much with Marvin re-signed.
I think this would be a pretty good deal...
Hawks get:
Eric Gordon
Chris Kaman
Clipps get:
Joe Johnson
Randolph Morris
-Hawks get a promising replacement at 2G and more depth at the 5 spot. If Kaman is healthy, he could turn into the perfect compliment to Horford in the middle.
-The Clipps get an established 2G with versatility who would pair perfectly with BD.

^ throw in Thornton or Jordan and it will be closer to decent. especially with Kaman's injury question mark

Re: Trade Joe?
pja, we're talking about one year of JJ for Gordon and Kaman. I'm not sure LAC would do that.
If they would, I'd jump all over it.

Re: Trade Joe?
Clearly, if the Clipps did that trade, they'd need to be confident they could re-sign JJ. Personally, I think they could definitely re-sign him given it's LA and they'd have the money to spend with Camby's contract off the books next summer. But you're right; it'd be a risk for the Clipps. It's a risk for any team even thinking of trading for JJ.

i think the Clips are one of those teams that are looking to get under the cap, but i'm not sure. i wonder if New Orleans is still looking to get rid of some big contracts.

New Orleans has no one that we'd want not named Chris Paul.

Re: Trade Joe?
You won't get top dollar value for Joe because he can walk at the end of the season. Any team acquiring him gets him for a year and then gets the ability to pay him more than anyone else to keep him. As such even if they are willing to trade for him they'll use the contract situation as a reason to low ball the trade offer talent wise.

I worry that LeBron James wants Joe and has already told him so. JJ'd be the perfect foil for LB's game.

Re: Trade Joe?
Those trades (in the first post) all have us getting a 3 in return. There is no need for a 3 with marvin on board.

A deep bench is fine, but only after we have filled our starting lineup. 2 SF's and no SG's does not work. Josh Howard and Jefferson are not SG's. I wouldn't mind a Butler deal, but we won't trade him within the division.

I don't think the Wizards would deal Butler either. Also, 2 SFs would only work if that SF is LeBron, or the center of our offense and has excellent handles, or good enough handles with an explosive first step (like LeBron).
I'd be fine with trading JJ for a good C and SG; Gordon and Kaman or Camby would be fine, but I don't think we could get Gordon.

Love the idea of JJ to the Clips for Eric Gordon. LAC might be dumb enough to do that as well.
