Nuggets receiver unfair treatment from the league?

I'm not saying the JR didn't deserve his suspension; however, i don't like the pattern we've seen lately.

1. Melo receives a 15 games suspension for throwing a punch and JR receives a 10 game suspension. League standards for fighting have always been a 1-3 game suspension prior to this. (The detroit/pacers brawl was different because players entered the stands and attacked fans).

2. Nuggets lead the league in technicals. They have some tempers on their team; however, Melo will get a technical ten times faster for complaining than any other super star.

3. Jr gets suspended for a crime he commited 2 years ago. The league has usually let the law play out its own role.

I'm not saying anything the league has done is wrong; however, this better become a standard. If Kobe/Bron/Wade throw a punch they should get a 15 game suspension. If KG pleads guilty to wreckless driving he should get a 7 game suspension.

Consistency has never been Stern's thing. Zack Randolph's punch last year showed this.

It is also rather funny how J.R. has now been punished for the same crime three times.

just like to thank OP for creating this thread here and not the general board.

i don't know about unfair treatment..i think at the time the league is probably trying to make an example of the players involved in altercations etc..it's just a shame that they don't keep consistent. and we really shouldn't expect them to be should we? look at the refs consistency ffs.

Or he just favors certain teams (Spurs, Lakers)

I think the Nuggets just have a lot of loose cannons but they're also one of the funnest teams to watch, so Stern doesn't want to see them fall apart because of off the court troubles so he makes sure he sets examples.

Right, you mean like W/C finals for example.

I did see how those games were so in favor of the Lakers, specially these plays that should've been called flagrount as well as ejections. But your completely right.

Oh C'mon....First of all, you posted 4 videos for 2 incidents. Secondly, neither of these plays warrant an ejection. That's just ridiculous. The push from behind, may have warranted a flagrant......maybe. The trip, While I'm not saying it WAS an accident, it easily could have happened on accident. Players trip over players all the time. And even if it was on purpose, for the refs to just assume it was malicious would be ridiculous. If they assumed that on every play, every player would be ejected by the 2nd quarter.
Besides, I believe this topic was far more about Stern and his ridiculously lacking consistency in the matters of player suspension.

I do think Stern isn't an even handed disciplinarian. I don't think the consipracy theorists are right in most cases though.

If you're talking about the WCF, well go back and watch some **** tapes without your homer glasses on and tell me who the better team was. If it's about suspensions, that's even more ridiculous. How did we get any special treatment? Fisher got suspended for the elbow on Scola. Kobe also got suspended before for "unnatural act". I just don't see the special treatment we are getting.

Damn you LA fans sure must be worried about the Nuggets. I have yet to see a Nuggets thread discussing anything that does not include a few postings from Lakers fans. Don't worry, we all know you guys are the champs, until Artest blows up and you lose once again.

I completely agree. I mean how does Rondo not get suspended for even 1 game for everything he did in the Celtics Bulls series. He didn't even receive a flagrant foul for what what did to Hinrich, and Miller.

Also, I didn't want to make a new thread for the following question. Can you guys tell me about Sonny Weems? I am from Toronto. Is it true that George Karl want to hang on to him because he saw something really special? Only thing I know about him is that he was the fastest sprinter in the 2008 draft, and that he looks like Joey and Stephen Graham (not sure if it was mentioned before).

I don't know about that. The FO was pretty high on him during the '08 draft, which is obvious because they traded for him. But after his unimpressive showing in the minutes he played last year and a terrible summer league where he did nothing but chuck up bad shots and turn the ball over, I think Karl lost all faith in him and made him expendable. After that it was clear he would never be a intricate part of this team, so the FO moved him for a piece they deemed more useful in a backup big(also to get rid of the contract of an injured player).

As far as my opinions on Weems. To me the kind of player he is are a dime a dozen in the league. A guy who made it to the NBA because of his pure physical/athletic ability, but doesn't have any specific skill to separate himself from the rest. His most noted attribute is his scoring, which at this level isn't anything special. If he improved his basketball IQ or improved his defense, or something of that sort, maybe he could carve a niche for himself(like Dahntay Jones did, albeit unwarranted)...but the majority of the time, you just don't see that happening with these kind of guys. He'll likely be out of the NBA for good after this year.
