Bynum not as disappointing as we thought
14ppg 8rebs 2 blocks making 70%fg over 50 games
sounds more like balanced scoring from a 21 year old
exceot when he did this
42 points / 15 rebs career
Byum = all-star game strter

Re: Bynum not as disappointing as we thought
atleast he's better than the overhyped oden, on the flip side i'd consider swapping him with emeka okafor(consistent 14/9 guy)
but if he doesnt get it done this season, i dont think he ever will...afterall, he is in like his 5th season or something, so being 21 doesnt make much of a difference, unless ur brain is the size of a pea.

Am I the only one here who remembers he was hurt by teammates? I'm going to put it out there & whoever doesn't like it so be it! His injury with LO, freak accident. His injury with Kobe, from ball hogging! There it is in black & white. If Kobe just passes him the damn ball instead of going one on "the world" we wouldn't even be having this discussion. Funny how Kobe gets a pass on this like nothing ever happened, but the pile on Drew bandwagon is out of seats!Aki wrote:a total of 80~90 missed games is whats disappointing...

I don't know, Phil's kept him off balance with his rotation and the injuries have shortened all of those seasons. I'd still give him another full year to come back an allstar if it didn't happen this year. Bigs just tend to take much longer.
How do you feel about Farmar's progression?

We already know Bynum can play, it's his health that's concerning. Although he didn't even tear an ACL or undergo micro fracture, that along with the fact that both his injuries were freak occurrences, makes me think he can return to form.

Re: Bynum not as disappointing as we thought
I wish how much of that was due to his one stellar month and not the many average & below par ones that followed. As far as I know he was terrible when it mattered the most (NBA playoffs).
I think most of our players are lucky in a way that Kobe alone soaks up all the pressure put on the team so among all the young players in this league, Bynum has had the chance and time to progress steadily. So he better be showing a consistent game after demanding that contract.

Amen. Play D, inhale boards, don't get pissy when you don't get touches/minutes, play 70-plus games, and we'll be all good.

I'm 100% with you. Although inhaling boards sounds extremely painful.

Re: Bynum not as disappointing as we thought
For a 21 year old (soon to be 22) I have high hopes.
Kobe became great at age 22. Bynum can become a 20/10/3 guy. He can do it this year maybe too.
If he could get 12 boards a game he couldn't help but get 20 points with all those put backs.

Re: Bynum not as disappointing as we thought
its disappointing regardless of whether it was his fault or not...
we all just want more from bynum
series wouldnt even be close if we had a healthy and beasting bynum, itd be like shooting fish in a barrel
season cant start soon enough, it takes seemingly forever (3 months) for the bynum mack-truck to warm up to full-operating potential

Re: Bynum not as disappointing as we thought
The only thing I've been disappointed with regarding Andrew was how he returned from injury last season. Not from a production standpoint, but in relation to his attitude.
His tendency to sulk and pout was clear to see, and very frustrating considering we were on a team-first mission to win the championship. I'll just chalk that up to youthful immaturity and hope he continues to grow up.
Otherwise, he's been nothing short of fantastic -- he's clearly worked on his body, and his game, and when healthy and in form is one of the better big men in the league. I supported the big extension last year, and will continue to do so until he goes down in flames.
As has already been said elsewhere, he can take all the vacations he wants -- as long as he produces on the court. That's what it always boils down to, so now we'll see if he can give us 70 solid games this year.

Only three players averaged what he did or better in those three categories last season

Bynum, Dwight, and Yao
Bynum isn't going to put up great stats on this team. It would likely require a herculian effort to get a double with the great rebounders on the team
