My team is sucking donkey balls... trade ideas?

Post#1 » by Maritimer » Mon Oct 5, 2009 12:17 am

Here's what I've got:

Rivers / Cutler
Turner / LT / C. Williams / Bradshaw
Smith / Bowe / Ward / Walter / Gonzalez
V. Davis
Jets
Crosby

10 teams, keep 5 guys each year. Standard scoring. I'm 1-3 and getting blown out right now. Some nice looking names, I know, but most are disappointing so far, especially at RB/WR.

I've proposed to one owner Cutler/Smith/Williams for A. Johnson/Gore/Olsen, fully expecting to be turned down. However, he's without a decent QB with McNabb down, and he's likely to be willing to part with Olsen since he's got Celek and is a big Eagles fan. If he counters with Ronnie Brown in place of Gore (I'm hoping he'll be anxious with Gore sitting on the bench), I should still pull the trigger, right? Here's his lineup:

Campbell / McNabb
Gore / Brown / Harrison / Hightower / Wells
Johnson / Colston / Sims-Walker
Olsen / Celek
Eagles
Folks

More generally, should I be patient with my big 4 of LT, Turner, Smith and Bowe? They're all looking awful this year.

I think right now may be best time to move LT, he is one of my favorites, but he is a huge IR concern and his value will decline quickly if he does not come back and play well, now may be the best time to do it.

I would suggest patience for Turner, mainly he is suffering the 370 curse, he may take some time to pick up, and depending on the number of carries he could do you very well in the future.

Smith (I am guessing Carolina version) is a great player, but he is suffering at the hands of a poor running game, bad o-line and hurting QB, with his age and nostalgia value, it may be a good time to move him, if you could package him and LT in a deal for a good young starting RB or a stud WR I would be all over it.

Bowe I think will pick up a bit, it will take some time to get on the same page as Cassell after his injury, and they are a young team, he might not be huge this year but long term he could be a clutch player.

It is hard to come up with a lot of potential trades without seeing all the teams in your league, but I think a trade this guy might take a look at and that I think would be great long-term value for yourself would be LT for Brown or Gore and Sims-Walker (he has great upside). It would help bring in some young talent that could help down the line, but I think you might be hurting for a bulk of this season.

Hops this was somewhat helpful.

I have a similar team to your team, I really don't want to derail your thread and post my team but....

These are my suggestions. LT has not been productive at all this season and he can't seem to get healthy. I know it's early but he's aging fast and TBH I would not be patient with him, try to trade him for a rising-WR like Brandon Marshall .Be patient with Turner, the Falcons will be vs. teams like the 49ers and 'Boys who have some bad run-defenses and the Falcons coach loves to run to sag off some pressure from sophomore QB Ryan. Another suggestion I would have is to grab a Jerome Harrison of the Browns or a Glen Coffee of the 49ers off the waiver wire, 2 young RB's who are going to to get the majority of carries from their respective teams in the next 2 weeks.

Bradshaw and Cadillac are solid options so keep them or add them in any big deals as add-ons. Also look into capitalizing on an owners freakout from a poor touchdown-less start from Steven Jackson of the Rams, he will pick it up as the season goes on BOOOK IT!

Your WR options need some re-fining. Bowe will pick it up, he is option #1 for a horrible Chiefs team led by Matt Cassel. And you could start calling the Panthers Steve Smith the other Steve Smith from now on as he has been having a terrible start to the season. Try to trade him. Keep Ward, Gonzo and try picking up Johnny Knox or Pierre Garcon, 2 young and up and comers.

I am in a rush though hope this helps.

I would just start going nuts, offer all types of trades all over your league for a variety of incoming players.

I'll be honest, with the exception of your QB's and Bradshaw, you drafted all guys that I made a major point of absolutely not drafting on any of my teams, so beyond the obvious I stated above, I don't know what to say.

I will say I like Ronnie Brown more then I did last year and he is definitely someone to go after.

If you want a list of guys I would target, I would say go after some of these guys that might be more readily available, but worth it now and in the long run if you can aquire them.
No particular order:
Kevin Smith
Ronnie Brown
Ryan Grant
Knowshon Moreno
Pierre Thomas
Westbrook as long as you can secure McCoy
Forte
Donald Brown
Steven Jackson

Flip your whole roster if need be as long as you get good value back, all the way down to Turner, Bowe and Rivers/Cutler.
