What if we still had our 2010 pick

Post#1 » by lilfishi22 » Mon Oct 5, 2009 6:33 pm

Just a thought. Would our lineup be any different or much the same? Obviously with a pick next season we would've been able to put together a makeshift team and tanked.

Would Hill have been resigned for mid-level money (if I'm not mistaken)?

Would we have moved Amare for pieces already and go into full rebuild?

The team would be the same, I had a hard time seeing Sarver just getting rid of everyone and they go from a 46 to 20 win season. The only difference is they wont have a pick between #15-20 next season but it's not that bad if you consider the Suns are a better team than last season.

Well I could see it either way. Another thing you have to consider is if we still had that pick, we may have seen it moved in a blockbuster trade (considering how Sarver loves to throw those picks in to trades). We package Nash and that pick and send them to a win-now team for a young PG to pair up with Amar'e (someone like Rondo). In that case Hill walks and you start Clark.

I could definitly see our team different this year. but i dont think that the suns ever want to have a losing team ever again- or a championship team either.

oh, what i meant was the way they are going, they are always going to be good, but not championship good. what they need to do is kindof start over, while keeping few players- or do what the spurs did (curse them)

If we had our pick we could get a solid player to build around.

Look at this lineup we could've/should've had

PG Rondo
SG Joe Johnson
SF 2010 pick/Earl Clark
PF Earl Clark/Amare
C Amare/Lopez/2010 Draft Pick

with a bench of

Dragic, Barbosa, Dudley, Frye, Amundsen and one other key bench guy we'd be a damn good tema

The core of Rondo, Johnson, Clark, Amare, and the 2010 draft pick would be really nice.

Speaking of cursing the Spurs...anybody see what their 2nd rd pick did last night? 19 boards. 19 boards!!!! DeJuan Blair falling to the 30's was an absolute steal for them and there must be some kind of David Stern conspiracy to be able to get the players they did in the draft and trade. Bah!!!

Curse the Spurs...Lakers too, and take Dallas while you are at it!

In all reality, I think we would have used a player and our higher 2010 draft pick to package together to move up in the draft. I think Kerr knows he needs to get better through the draft now to be able to have a fully loaded team capable of contending. John Wall would be nice. Not realistic, but nice.

That or use our 2010 pick to send JRich's contract elsewhere
