I'm drained. just drained. i dont want to see any sports channel discussing why we suck. I'm off to take my mind off our teams and their epic choke job

Re: 1 Game Playoff: Tigers @ Twins
Well I'm going to be quiet in the Tigers forum here for quite a while now and focus my attention on the other forums. All I'm going to say is that there's nobody really to blame but Leyland and DD for putting us in this situation with 115+ million dollars of terrible money mis-management, and terrible gameday tactics ALL season long. There's no reason we shouldn't have won close to 10 more games this regular season other than poor strategy and complete negligence of the fundamentals of baseball theory.
If the Tigers want to seriously compete next year then call me up and I will show you how to manage baseball correctly and more efficiently in every aspect of the game. If not, then you get no sympathy from me.

I know we had chance after chance to win the game, but Polanco with "strike 3", Granderson being "out" at first and now Inge "NOT" being hit by the pitch..... unbelievable.

It sounds like the Tigers were jobbed by the umps in this game, but it's their responsibility to win by a margin where a bad call isn't the difference. If there was a bad call in the Yankees' final game of the year, they sure didn't care.
Hopefully we can work on getting a more consistent offense while building on the nice pitching performances by our youngsters for next year.

Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Re: 1 Game Playoff: Tigers @ Twins
I agree that the Tigers should have won it and done so by not letting it get that close..... but it was that close, and they were robbed.
Tigers had good pitching, Twins had good pitching.
Tigers had timely hits, Twins had timely hits.
Tigers left 12 men on base, Twins left 12 men on base.
Tigers had a questionable baserunner, Twins had a questionable base runner.
Tigers had a questionable "strikeout", Twins had a questionable "strikeout".
Both teams had chance after chance to win it. Both teams fought tooth and nail. The only difference? the umpire decided not to make the call when our batter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the 12th.
You can shake it anyway you like, that determined the game.

Re: 1 Game Playoff: Tigers @ Twins
Well we would have got one run from that one call, if everything else is equal, then the Twins still would have had runners on with a chance to win the next inning. So they would have had 50% of a chance to win if they didn't win in that bottom half, plus the chance that they would have scored a second run (or 3rd run) in that half. So it wasn't a full robbery of the game, just a partial robbery, in that the Ump deprived us of a huge chunk of our odds. But he didn't necessarily give the win to the Twins with his incompetence on that play, that we can never know.

I'll be honest, I'm still so disappointed in the team for blowing a 7 game lead in a month that I'm disinclined to make any excuses at all.

Re: 1 Game Playoff: Tigers @ Twins
I'm not excusing thier choke job at all. They shouldn't have been in that situation, at all. but the fact was, they were. And the Umpire decided the game by not calling the game correctly because it would hurt the Twins.
