Wizards Board NBA2k10 Thread

Post#1 » by DallasShalDune » Wed Oct 7, 2009 10:07 pm

Two things guys...
How are you liking the new 2k game? I'm digging it.

and...

WHAT THE F**K DID THEY DO TO HAYWOOD? HE IS ONE OF THE WORST CENTERS IN THE GAME NOW! Seriously, he is worse than Etan and just as good as McGee at a 60 overall (granted they lowered the ratings, but Kurt Thomas and Kosta Kufos are also both better). Man, some serious hate for our starting C.

was THIS close to buying this today and then realized that $60 of my hard-earned dough would probably be better used for something else...like massive amounts of burrito bowls from Chipotle.

These sports game makers must make so much money. THey put out basically the same product each year and expect you to pay full price for a newly updated roster. They should just make one game every 3 years or so and update the roster. Guess they wouldn't be robbing us of our dough then.

So it's a lock Kobe gets hurt this year. Great news for the East.

You are right, it would be a story.

Though any 2k curse isn't as bad as the Madden one.

On the chance you don't play for the multiplayer, you can pick up the PC version for only $20 (or even a few bucks less in some places). I actually prefer it to the console version, with the higher resolution graphics and user made content (roster updates, retro jerseys, etc).

oh wow, reallly? $20 is definitely a lot more reasonable for these yearly sports games. I have a Mac though, wonder if they make a lot of these games compatible. Do you play with like a USB-connected controller? I couldnt imagine playing with a keyboard/mouse.

Chris Paul was on the cover in 2008 and he had his best season ever; Shaq was on the cover in 2006 and won the title.

Yep, only twenty bucks - definitely a good deal. I don't think they have a Mac version though. I imagine you could probably use Boot Camp to play it if you wanted to go that route, but that's probably about it.

I use a 360 controller (the wired version uses a regular USB connection and gets recognized like any other PC controller), because yea, the game definitely wouldn't be keyboard/mouse friendly. I think that's a $30-40 investment, but if you play enough computer games, it's very much worth it. Pretty much makes all console ports and emulation and such 10x more enjoyable.

can we go back to the initial point that Brendan Haywood is a 60 overall, i bought this and immediately noticed that fact. A 60!?!?! like cmon, does being injured for a season make u twice as bad as u used to be? I dont understand this. theyve extremely underrated him and i dont think its fair

On the plus side Dominic McGuire is a 75 at shooting the 3, which was the same as DeShawn Stevenson, and one less point than Antawn Jamison.

Yeah, I noticed that about DMac as well. It was a nice surprise when I had to take a 3 late in the shot clock and he made it.

It's obvious 2K didn't do their homework on Haywood...

Oberto is better than him...
He is as good as McGee...
McGee's bbal IQ is higher that Haywood's...
He still doesn't have his headband (also missing in 2K7,2K8 & 2K9), even though his mugshot shows him having one... :nonono:

I wonder how Live has Haywood rated...

wow, that's incredibly stupid. That almost makes me want to forget about buying the game altogether. I wonder if Darko has been rated as a better defender than Haywood as well.

Anyone mind telling us how the rest of the Wizards rate? I'm assuming not good based on what they did to Haywood.

EDIT: Just found this online: http://www.pastapadre.com/2009/09/24/nb ... er-ratings

Gil only manages an 84, equal to Tony Parker, Chris Bosh, Al Jefferson, Danny Granger, and ...Andre Iguodala (?!?!?).

"Best" Wiz starting 5, according to 2k Sports

Arenas: 84 (Mike James is a 63)
Foye: 71 (Miller is a 69, Stevenson a 68, and Young a 67)
Butler: 83 (McGuire is a 65)
Jamison: 75 (Blatche is a 62)
Oberto: 62 (Haywood and McGee are 60)

Ugh, don't buy 2k10 if you plan to play with the Wizards.

Other notable rankings:

Kobe Bryant 97
Lebron James 96
Dwyane Wade 96
Chris Paul 94

Kevin Garnett 89
Deron Williams 89
Dwight Howard 89
Carmelo Anthony 88
Tim Duncan 88
Rajon Rondo 87
Brandon Roy 87
Devin Harris 86
Chauncey Billups 85
Andre Iguodala 84
Danny Granger 84
Tony Parker 84
Chris Bosh 84
Al Jefferson 84
Gilbert Arenas 84
Joe Johnson 83
Dirk Nowitzki 83
Kevin Durant 82
Amare Stoudemire 82
Baron Davis 82
Shaquille O’Neal 81
Stephen Jackson 81
Derek Rose 80
Jason Kidd 80
Steve Nash 80
Gerald Wallace 78
Tayshaun Prince 77
Tracy McGrady 77
Richard Jefferson 76
Michael Redd 76
Rashard Lewis 75
Greg Oden 74

Yeah, the Haywood rating makes no sense whatsoever. I'd say based on that scale he should just be above 70. If Oden is a 74 then 72 or 73 would make sense. Haywood's ratings have been off for years, but this year they dissed him hard.

As for Gil, I'd put a healthy Gil above Rondo & Harris but I understand if 2Ksports was skeptical b/c of his health.

One thing to consider, these ratings aren't written in stone. If you have xbox live, they'll offer roster updates every few weeks and usually make some ratings adjustments along with any roster moves that happened. So if Gil starts off ballin', they may bump him up a bit.

As for the game, its cool. It's plays slower than last year though. I like the help D, they've improved that greatly. My only real gripes about the game is that the shot stick/x button seems more sensitive than ever. It's hard for me to develop any consistency on my jumpshots. Also there's too many missed layups and finally there seems to be a slight framerate issue when making a foray to the basket, but maybe they'll fix the last one when they update in a few weeks or so.

It's still the best b-ball game on the market though, by far.

NBA Live doesn't even have Gilbert as a top 10 point guard.

I don't mind the 84 for Gil, because everyone lowered. I do think he is better than Harris and Rondo, though. Since everyone save the best of the best lowered, I'm fine with everyone. But the Wood fiasco is redonkulous. I edited him to a 71 with like a 90 Interior D and a high Defensive Awareness.

I still dominate with Gil at an 84, so I compare it to his 90whatever he was last year. I'm actually a fan of lowering everyone. Too many high 90's for years have plagued both big NBA franchises.

I dont know the list of players on the cover of NBA2K but Kevin Garnett and Tony Parker–who were featured on the covers of NBA 2K9 and NBA Live–suffered injuries during the 2008-09 season.
