I kind of liked Stuckey. He was slowly becoming a nice third-down receiver. However, a 2nd string LB, a slot, and picks for a potentially quality Number 1 wideout is just awesome for us. He just stretches the defense and will take some pressure off, especially on blitzes. If he does well, the money Stuckey and Trusnik received could go towards an extension (Edwards is in the final year of his rookie contract). However, where does that leave Leon? I'll be happy to entertain suitors for Thomas Jones or just leave it to the offseason.

And to top it off, Pace comes back this week and we don't have to cut anyone for him since we just traded 2 guys away.

he has stunk recently but this is an absolute no brainer.. the dude is a physical freak with a ton of upside while still only 26yo.. a legit redzone target to go along with keller

i really see this as moss to NE situation to a lesser extent.. he obviously aint moss (who is?) but the fans hated him, he hated the team, the 2 coaches they have had,etc

look at this man's 2007:

80rec 1289yds 16td

what a good night, i put a waiver claim (in fantasy) on crabtree once i seen they reopened negotiations just for the hell of it, and i wake up and not only is he signed, the jets got braylon.. love waking up to good news

he def dont suck, he just isnt braylon edwards or a number 1 wideout but he is very good in the flats/screens and is a tough wideout that makes people miss and fights for every yard..

other than the fact that he is a miserable f**k who creates a miserable team atmosphere, i like the moves mangini is making.. he is bringing in depth/picks and quality players to rebuild a real trainwreck of a team

5th pick and a disgruntled wideout for the 17th pick, 52nd pick, a third rounder, a 5th rounder, solid playmaking safety in elam, coleman, ratliff who the jets were high on at qb, stuckey, and a very good special teamer in trusnik..

if this guy would lighten up that team may be decent in 2 years

I knew you'd be happy about this trade. You finally got your receiver. lol However, Stucky does not suck. He's played well this year. What would lead you to say that he sucks?

couple of dropped passes and the fact that he becomes invisible a lot of the time....He is an ok reciever but no way a #2...this move is great for our team and i think with a change of scenary for braylon and rex ryan being his coach he could defently come back to form..

Jets certainly get the most talented guy in the deal. I wouldn't get your hopes up on Braylon though. He's good, but not great and that isn't about the team he's on. Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, and others have been great on bad teams. What will the NY media do when he starts dropping balls?
The best news is that there is very little downside risk for the Jets. You gave up less than fair value and you can let him walk at the end of the year if he becomes a problem. I don't think that will be an issue though, BE really wanted to be in NY all along. He's exactly the kind of guy that can cash in being in a major market.

I'm a Browns fan and can't say I'm too disappointed either. We aren't winning in the next year and a half and BE would be long gone by then. A couple pieces and a couple picks is better than nothing at the end of the year plus its more playing time for guys we need to develop for the longer term.

win/win

We now are in the great situation to draft only for depth next year and that with a 1st and a 2nd round pick. WR was our only hole in our starting lineup and that was filled. Overall we are a very young team, have a lot of key positions shored up and now, we can go best player available on both lines. Awesome...
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies...

The Browns are a joke right now, but so was Braylon's performance last week. Zero catches and a drop in an OT game vs. the Bengals, when their defense finally had them in a game and they were actually able to get competent (as opposed to horrible) play at the quarterback position.

It's a good trade for both teams. Definitely a high-reward move for the Jets, but Cleveland should be happy as well. He has been under-achieving for them and now with this off the field incident, I think they're pleased with getting 2 draft picks and a serviceable WR.

Braylon is. .. well. .. not a very good player. Yeah the Browns suck. But Quinn and Anderson dont take turns busting up Braylon's hands with lead pipes before ever game. .. So its not their fault he drops like 3 balls a game.

When he was in Cleveland (and at Michigan for that matter) he was just an big athletic guy that dropped passes. Now he's in New York though, that makes him the next TO even before he picks up a game jersey, lol. Love that East Coast media.

Anyway he's still young and extremely gifted. The Jets didn't give up that much so there is very little downside. Best case he really does turn into TO (he has the physical tools to do it) and worst case you let him walk at the end of the year.

If Edwards couldn't handle being in Cleveland the NY media will eat him up alive, Edwards was a very good player a couple of yrs ago but has turned into a selfish, immature punk, who is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode at any second, just wait and see.

Damn it, all Jets topics go on the Jets Board! How difficult is that? Stop posting all NY sports topics on the Knicks Board.

Knicks topics -> Knicks Board
Jets topics -> Jets Board
Giants topics -> Giants Board
Rangers topics -> Rangers Board
Islanders topics -> Islanders Board

i don't understand how you can be a wide receiver and not catch the ball, thats like a QB getting paid millions and not being able to pass.

he better get his act together and not drop so many catches, i expect jericho to maybe take him under his wing and teach him a few things + braylon shouldn't have too much pressure playing the #2 receiver role....as for now im on the fence with this trade.

Couldn't agree more. And as far as on the field, I've never seen one player single-handedly bring down an ENTIRE football team. He completely ruined any shot Derek Anderson had at gaining momentum towards a rebound year. As a Browns fan, believe me when I say that we do not exaggerate the blatent amount of drops that killed our drives and confidence. I'm talking both hands on the ball and slipping out like a greased melon.

However I will add that IF he tones down his number of drops, he can still make enough big plays to make it count for you. There were massive amounts of huge plays left on the field last year, and if he would have just caught the easy ones, would have had a respectable year. We'll take your 'solid football guys' and couple of picks to was our hands of Edwards. And dont say we didnt warn you.

BTW, good luck, wish we could have gotten Rex Ryan, and that defense is BEAST.
