A conundrum... who to drop?

Post#1 » by Maritimer » Sat Oct 10, 2009 5:36 pm

Here is my current squad...

Rivers / Cutler
Turner / LT / Cadillac / Bradshaw
Smith(CAR) / Bowe / Ward / Walter / Massaquoi / Gonzo
V. Davis
Jets
no kicker on the roster

Cutler and Rivers are both on a bye, so I need to drop two guys for a QB and kicker, or take zeros. What would you do? I'm thinking Massaquoi and Gonzo should be dropped. I hate to have 3 QBs on the roster, but Cutler is playing too well to just drop, IMO.

Also, which waiver QB are you most in favour of -- Hasselbeck, Campbell, Cassell, Anderson, Edwards, Hill? I like Hasselbeck most I think since Jacksonville's pass defense is atrocious, but Buffalo-Cleveland could be an ugly shootout with those defenses...

Edit -- in case you're wondering how I ended up in this position, I dropped my kicker (Crosby on a bye this week) for Massaquoi since I was certain I would get a deal done with somebody for Cutler. Unfortunately, my whole league is trade-shy so I ended up here.

I think you should go ahead with what you were thinking. I'm skeptical of Massaquio. Sure he's high on the depth chart but I don't think that offense is going to be doing much. Gonzo is an obvious drop. I'd go Hasselback as well. Like I said I just don't like the Browns offense in general and Hasselback is just flat out better than Edwards and while Buffalo is going to put up points, it will likely be on the ground. Cleveland's run D is atrocious.

Drop Massaqquio for Hasselbeck, drop Gonzalez for a kicker.

I've already dropped Gonzo for Hasselbeck. I'm going to wait and see how Sunday's games play out. If it's a blowout one way or the other, I'll stand pat (he's got Keller, I've got Jets D, so it'll have to be a big point difference for me to stay put). Otherwise if the result is in doubt, I'll do as you guys suggest and drop MM for Carpenter.

Edit - n/m realised I couldn't do that. Dropped MM for Scobee. Thanks for the help.

I would have advised Walter...Massa will show up, Browns will be behind every game and will have to throw.....only TB is worse than Buffalo
