Net's future with Yi...

Post#1 » by tsp00n » Sat Oct 10, 2009 4:57 pm

With new ownership and the rapid progression of CDR, Lopez and Lee... how long will Yi last on the nets roster???

how many players do the nets really think they can develop this season??

Figuring we traded the only other viable option, I think he's here for this season as the incumbent starter and if we pick up his option next year he will be the backup.

The nets only have 3 weeks to determine if Yi is gonna be apart of this team next summer.

Why are people thinking that this new owner is going to shed cash like crazy and solve any financial problems the Nets might have? This guy is a businessman, he's in it because he sees a profitable opportinity, and he likes basketball. Trust me when I say nothing extra is coming out of his pocket unless there is a profit in it.

My question is why do people act like the new owner is not going to care about making / losing money?

I can guarantee you that Yi's option will be exercised regardless of how he plays this year.

bucks fan here when the season ends I'll trade you a second rounder for him so we can just the cash that goes with him :)

Really tho no reason to cut him, since a small market team will trade some type of pick for him just so they can make some money

I squandered an asset? Then Hammond taught me well.

Of course he is going to care about making/losing money...As of now all speculation leads us to believe, considering the facts and histroy of Mikhail, that he'll be just as interested in putting together the best possible Nets roster regardless if he does make or lose money...

But I would not guarantee Yi's option being exercised...despite agreeing this could be the year of the Yi...

I don't see why the Nets wouldn't pick up the option.

To open up 4 million more in cap space.

Agreed,

If the Nets weren't looking at major cap space next summer, picking up Yi's option (and to a lesser extent, Dooling's option and Boone's RFA status) would likely be non-issues.

I'm pretty sure Yi is going to take steps forward this year but it's ultimately not going to be until next year when he really makes a jump in production.

Right now he's looking more and more comfortable attacking the basket and executing moves in / around the post area.

He still needs to get stronger though.

There seems to have been a lot of mental growth from Yi this offseason but he still needs to continue to grow physically.
