It's gonna be a SHOWDOWN with the Angels.
This team just finds a way to win no matter what. Pavano comes out with the nasty stuff, Andy keeps us in the game till A-rod/Jorge come through.

Yanks sweep twins..

Boston Swept by the Angels..

Today was a good day..

Some thoughts:

First of all, hats off to the twins, they play the game the right way... good team, just overmatched by yankees. Even with mauer and a healthy morneau, that is not enough. They are not big power hitters and as proven with the cardinals, you can pitch around two good hitters...

A-rod's clutch play was the difference, hats off to A-rod!

Tex with the big homer and has been a rock on defense at first.

Pitching: CC, to Burnett, to Andy tonight( who gets his 15th post season win and tied for most with smoltz) who was nasty, to the bullpen that got the job done, although a tad bit shaky at times. Pettite also matched a game pavano tonight as did AJ the game before.. good starting pitching was also the key..

Heads up plays by jeter and swisher all series... Jeter has also been clutch as well this series.. never fails with this guy

We need damon, melky and and swisher to pick up their games, they have been struggling, we are going to need more production come this series vs the angels..

Matsui has just been a good pro this series, we are going to need more of that..

Overall, power pitching and power hitting is tough to beat..

Go yanks!!! 8 more wins to WS #27

yea, twins had some mental mistakes, but they had to play almost perfect to beat the yanks who keep pressure on you from everywhere. this can also cause you to press, gamble and just make mistakes...

if you take arod out of this equation, this series wouldve had a different look

the offense as a whole didnt click at all

Got to love the starting pitching though. Damon needs to wake up. Swisher needs to hit the ball as well. I think Hughes will figure it out. I just can't dismiss his performance against the Indians a couple years ago. We all know what he is capable. I think he will rise to the occasion in the CS. He isn't a headcase like Joba is.

We batted .225 for the series and still won. Our pitching is what sent us to the second round. Mo was terrific, as usual. Our starting pitching was terrific too.

No sh*t, take a top 5 hitter out of any lineup and it looks different. Take Mo off the team and we look different too, same for CC.

Was that an incredible finish or what?

I haven't seen the Yanks play baseball this clutch since 2001.

I'm sorry, Derek Jeter MVP. In 1987 Kirk Gibson was MVP due to his character, leadership, and clutch play...Jeter more than compensates for his talent. His baseball IQ is off the charts. How heads up was that play to nail Punto. THAT was the game.

Posada more than made up for game 1. This guy was nails. The facial expressions were so intense. He looked like a truck could run into him and break apart. What a monolithic bada ass.

Don't feel bad for Pavano. Some dumbass GM is going to be suckered into giving him 11 million/1 year contract or 3 years/32 million only to see him missed half his starts. Today, he pitched with authority because he really wanted to show up the Yankees. Well, close doesn't count in baseball, Carl. Go crash a car ya donkey.

Hughes pitched fine. The Twins are no joke. This is a pesky young team that can run like the wind. It was the perfect tune up for the Angels because they play the same way with small ball and big hits in the gap.

Damon will be there. Baseball ebbs and flows. He's due.

When Mo needed to be his best...guess what, he was the Sandman.
